Review The stanley knife you never knew you needed!

Best i had was a "hyper tough" one out of asda, it was a £5er, ally scales and no fancy design. I lost it and was gutted, all the expensive ones are just fancy overmoulding and design.
replacement was a simple Rolson, yep Poundland favourite tool brand and its better than fatmax and the likes.

It’s one thing I’ve never invested in, a fancy ‘Stanley’ knife. I have a few of the basic Stanley ones but my best one is made by Hultafors and was £3 odd in Screwfix. I can’t find them anywhere now but these look identical bar the colour (mine is black):

It's totally changed my life - now I throw myself out of bed at 5am with a smile on my face, desperate to start the day where I can employ my new knife.
I shower with it, watch TV with it and tell it my closest (and some of the darkest) secrets.
We are together. We are one. We will never be apart.

Well, until the second one arrives today but then the first one will just have to learn to live with the new relationship.

Was in B&Q earlier for stuff, popped a Stanley FatMax foldable version in basket, didn't need one but there you go..

Not that impressed, blade change control is a bit of a faff / hit and miss, lock out is a bit wobbly and don't think the plastic controls will be up to much before they break, compared to the non foldable it feels a bit cheap.

I still want one of these "Maker knives", and not just because they blatantly ripped off my username. Can't bring myself to spent 50 euros on a Stanley knife though, especially when I've got a dozen 99Es.

I bought a set of FatMax screwdrivers, they are rubbish. The pozidrive only screwed in about half a dozen screws before the edges were off & they slipped. Stanley stuff used to be good!

Picked up this the other day for £1 from a vintage tool stall in an antiques centre of all places.

Never heard of the make, but it’s well made and has a smooth positive action for the blade extend / retract.

Yep, I had a FatMax pozi 2 and after a short while it was completely useless!

wera are the only ones i use get at least a year out of them used day in day out the number 2 is about 6 quid from screwfix or toolstation
