With regards the Procon on the other thread.
I am thinking I just need to make my cooler a bit wider and possibly a bit longer and have a fan either end of the motor basically as in my model posted earlier. Air will be drawn in at the back of the motor and pulled out at the front, should keep things cool.

Are you able to bring the pump head outside and connect your torch straight to the out going like so. The proconsul are awesome but the motor can get to 70 degrees C and be happy under normal working. The pump head is brass and conducts the heat. If it can be out in the cool it helps loads.

I could but I plan on taking the cooler with me on some jobs so I fear it would be vulnerable, think I would have to build some form of shroud round it.
Will have to get the motor/pump first so I can accurately model it then try and work out the best way of doing things. Ideally I want to try and keep the 10-12L coolant capacity as well.

The good thing is you can experiment with it. If it gets too hot and starts heating the water no harm done just change it around before it causes lines to soften.
Personally I'd sacrifice the whole design. Take away the big tank and go for something like 5 ltr then use the space to really vent out that heat. More space around that motor the better.

You can do it however you need to and make it look and work great. I crammed it all in that small case alright with a 3 Lt tank so it's doable.

When i ran the pump for an hour the other day welding on the filler neck . The pump was hardly warm although the motor was very hot. Don't know how this would change if it was covered will have to do some testing.

Will see how it fares when I get it, should even be able to squeeze it inside the one I have made now so I can test, will have to have the fans on the outside but that will be fine for a testbed

If the pump is out in the open it won't get warm as the water rushing round it is cold so it's cooling itself. When you box it all up the heat builds up in the motor it will transfer to the pump. It will heat up your lines and tank and eventually the water. The pumps and motor can take the heat no probs but your lines can't. They will get soft and they will eventually split.
I've found this out from doing this. You NEED to keep that water cool. That's the ultimate goal here.

Put an old, good condition, radiator on the outside of an outside wall...
If you use glycol in the coolant, no worries, pipe it into the loop

Got some dimensions off the net for pump and motor so I could make a rough model and it seems like I just need it about 30-50mm wider to get the fans inside. It should give a good airflow right over the motor/pump and take any heat out but I will test first on the Mk1 that is already made just to make sure.
Couple of pics showing the space round the pump/motor, will likely either raise the motor or lower the fan holes.

I like that mark 2 a lot. That's a smart looking design. See no reason whatsoever why that wouldn't work. The tank is not above it which is good.
Would you squeeze a rad in there too.

Yes, if I made it the 50mm wider then rad/fan would fit one side and single fan the other.

For a 200 amp machine I don't think you would but it's hard to say without test. Good Exchangers make a huge difference to shifting that heat off the water before it hits home.

I am thinking possibly not but should be able to test with the tank I have at the moment as the Procon will fit inside and I can place the fans on the outside.
That way I can see whether it looks likely it will heat up and decide on dimensions for Mk2 later. Worst comes to the worst and I find that after I have made it narrower and do indeed need the rad then I can fit the fan outside and the rad where the fan was.

I don't really want a cart as i don't have much room. Having the welder under the bench is a pita due to the control panel being on the side.
