Received these today:

5 custom PCBs made and delivered in about two weeks all for the princely sum of £8.18, of which £1.57 was for the 5 PCBs and £6.61 was delivery. I could have got the delivery for a couple of quid less, but I splashed out and went with the tracked option.

I've designed loads of PCBs for work over the years, but home projects have always been strip board or similar. This is easily the simplest PCB I've ever made (unsurprisingly I guess given it's a home project rather than something complicated for my work to make money from) and probably not really deserving of a PCB vs just using strip board, but at the price it seemed daft to muck around with strip board!

I still haven't got my head around how they can make 5 PCBs for £1.57 and still (presumably) make a profit. That's not much more than I would expect to pay for PCBs in volume and that's after you've paid for all the up-front costs like stencils and such-like.

Total bargain when i think of the days of tracing and dipping copper coated boards in acid for small batches of boards.

Not today, but Thursday I acquired a 25mm long very thin splinter in my hand. Friday I acquired the help of a lovely nurse who took it as a personal challenge to remove it doing no further damage. Half an hour later out it came & a look of triumph on her face. She was telling me the worst are builders with nail guns doing plasterboard & firing them through their hands. The nails being serrated she has to resort to pliers to pull them out, so the builders on here, you have been warned, take care.

I had one of those Tonkas. Exactly like that.
Sadly being a destructive git as a teenager I shot it up with my air rifle. Bang on the limit. Normal lead pellets bounced off but Prometheus pellets would penetrate.
Very tough for a toy. Not many would survive that now.

Impulse buy to replace one I had years ago that disappeared whilst in storage at a friend's place

6 - 1/2" All I need now are some external jaws.

If you shoot a nail into yourself with a nailgun you deserve the pain.
Keep your hand further away from the nose of the gun than the length of the nail and a bit for luck.and it should never happen

My best splinter. Rake handle right across my palm through the web of my thumb and out the other side.
Was tricky to remove in the kitchen.

Not today, but actually On Friday evening last I acquired this from a friend who assembled it for me using his mig welder - a piece of scaffold tube welded between two pieces of box iron.



I'm using it to replace these brackets which came with an electric winch I bought from Lidl for €70 recently which I needed to attach to scaffolding.







The scaffold couplings are swivels so I can have it in parallel as above or at any other angle I need depending on it's location.

Not entirely sure yet about what I will get for free or cheap but contacted my Stihl retailer and asked him if they have something broken and if they need someone in the shop

I hope more to work there than get something but why not ,I made an attempt
I will be happy if the give me a completely broken Stihl Ms 360 (they have a shelf full of broken Stihl chainsaws ) or a ms180T ,even more happy if they give me a komby
