There are so many good ones out there in the £30 - £50 range (inc offers) these days, I think we're spoiled for choice. If you move slightly above that range, there are some really good onesHaving said that, I'm no whisky snob and I'll give any whisky chance

I picked up a bottle of this last year when I was on Shetland:

It's a Speyside single malt that's "overwintered" on Unst, and I fell madly in love with it at my first tasting. I'm not one for all that poncey tasting notes nonsense, but it was sweet and smooth, not a trace of harsh after taste, and even my OH claimed it as being most agreeable


I'm also a great dan of Nevis Dew blended, from the Nevis distillery at Fort William. Again, it's a lighter whisky, and I much prefer it to the likes of the more "mainstream" blends such as Johhnie Walker and Bells.
