Thought I should really clean out the little CNC mill, as I'll be needing to use it for the first time in a while*, so finally invested in one of these.

*the while may be verging on 12months, as the swarf still lying in it is from some stabiliser brackets I machined for a job last spring

In parts of Germany it’s a requirement to put your number in a certain place. Has to be a certain size and colour etc too.

Buy a plasma cutter, there's room for mine + the R-Tech180 side by side on the top shelf of the one I built [purely a fluke of design tbh].

The screw is still in good nick after a thread file, and the spigot is removable from the claw, so I'll try to get a spare from SKF, and if not, I'll have one made up from an engineering steel

Just a thought: whichever of the screw or the spigot is easier to remake or replace is best made out of something lesser than the other part. You can then ensure that the bit that suits you to wear out first does so.

If you over-specify the spigot at this point, and it leads to screw demise, what are the consequences? Making two wear-item spigots now might be a good bet while the machine is set up to do so.

Yeah you're not wrong. For what it is and how many threads are engaged, it would probably be fine made from en8 without hardening, and it would still probably match the screw strength. Anyway I'll try to get a replacement before making one

Crimp set arrived today (£4.60) from Amazon.

Exactly the same (as far as I can tell) as the one I paid £20 for last year from the bay.
Useful enough that I'll keep one on the workbench plus one in my electrickery toolbag.

Tbf: £4.60 for a box of crimp ferrules isn't too bad a price - so technically I got a free crimper.

I was going to order another 4 of them, now I know they're OK - but now OOS.

They box is in my van.

Was that a coffee place? Mates son was some sort of area manager for costa pre rona. The waste was amazing. He would regularly give everyone boxes like that and big sacks of beans. Just un used stock. Makes you wonder how much more they’d make by clamping down on the waste.

I've a mate who used to make and deliver to loads of petrol stations before the likes of tescos bought them out. He paid his mortage off in 9mths. Retired at 40

Similar story. Paid his mortgage off then sold it all. Just does whatever now as he bought a couple of rental houses he lives off. He’s 10 years younger than me.
