And, as an aside, a good clinic report where the para-protein level has fallen yet again, down to 2.0 from 2.5 from the last bloods. Only have to attend monthly from here on in as long as the readings hover around that level or [being positive (greedy? ) ] drop even further.

A slump cone is used for the slump test. These are for sampling concrete, then curing and crush testing to make sure concrete is to spec.
I used to crush at 7 days, 14 days and the last 2 at 28 days - tests the early strength of concrete so you could strip shutters early for suspended concrete slabs/beams etc.

That takes me back a bit, when I was an apprentice at RMC if I’d been bad I‘d be given a slumpie’s van to service instead of a truck, they were animals...

They had Escort vans, got sent out to one broken down in Guildford with clutch failure, was just a snapped cable so told him to drive it back to the workshops in Yateley - him: ‘I can’t, it’s got no clutch’. Me: you take my van, I’ll drive it; still had most of the gearbox when I got back

Any bodyshop supplies place will have the scotch pads. Worth buying good brands like 3m, the cheap ones don't hold their 'edge'.

150mm cubes are less popular these days. For some strange reason, 100mm cubes give higher crush strengths for the same concrete than 150mm ones. 100mm ones take less concrete to fill, so the cubie has to carry less weight about in his/her bucket . They are less weight to cart around when the test lab's van calls. The only advantage of the larger ones is they withstand harsh treatment a little better than the smaller ones.

We use 150mm cubes for concrete and 100mm cubes for grout.

You don't ever want to make a grout cube without oiling the form

Not today but recently swapped 3D printers with my BIL

I had a Copymaster dual extruder and he had the Ender 5 Plus



Liking the Ender lots, not sure if it's my imagination but pretty sure the Copymaster was slightly faster.

One thing that was a definite, the stepper motors on the Ender are really noisy, so after a week I splashed out on a silent board upgrade which I fitted tonight. Difference has surprised me, stepper motor noise reduced to nothing

Water cooling next so I can get rid of the hotend fan

You can buy those consumables a whole lot cheaper from shoprivers shop on ebay. Just look for PT31 consumables.

A lot of those sets are not a very well thought either, unless you are very clumsy you'll rarely have to replace the ceramic bits! And the inner copper bit is double ended so you only need half the amount compared to the outer copper bit!

My new to me 1958 Centec 2b has arrived I will get some pictures and probably start yet another milling machine thread!
It was quite the ordeal to get it into the garage but my Mrs helped me (I would really be lost without her!) and it is safely awaiting its location to be sorted ready for use.
(Then get packed away again when we move later this year )

Very nice hatchet or kindling axe. was found in a site skip. Almost ready to go for scrap. A customers return as it did not cut wood.
They were trying to cut plywood for a open fire.

I asked a friend if he had any small or pointed nylon brushes. Knowing that he does car boots and stuff like that.

This one came with a bonus, that red spanner item. This fits the small fire suppression system bottles attachments. The type you sometime find on vending machines in high risk areas, or on ferries.

Arrived. The os disk was lurking on the emulator unknown to the previous owner. Turning it to disk 000 and booted straight up with a test sample.

I acquired a big SKF bearing puller ever since I started my apprenticeship I loved the SKF TMMP series that we used at work, far better than the cheaper sykes pickavant types. And I acquired the big 3 x 300 today for nothing, as the threads had finally given up in the spigot after many hundreds of pulls. They just ordered a new one for £300 ish.
The screw is still in good nick after a thread file, and the spigot is removable from the claw, so I'll try to get a spare from SKF, and if not, I'll have one made up from an engineering steel, maybe even try making it myself when I get my lathe back up and running. Either way, I've always wanted one of these exact pullers but never had the work to justify buying one I've seen lads swinging on power bars and beating it with hammers, and it still looks like it's only seen light use... Truly excellent tool making from SKF
