Fruits of the past few days getting my hands covered in rust and oil rooting through boxes at second hand shops!

A Spear and Jackson 12oz ball pein and a Brades 1774 cross pein, a Disston applewood handled panel saw from the period 1896-1917 that I will restore and use, a monster 12" Bastard file and a 10" round file that were a crazy $2 each, and a Record No.2 that I plan to sell.

Was mooching with a dog, yes another re homing trial dog and found this dumped in the hedge. It was there for a while, as t was covered in dead or near dead ivy. It was only when the weeds had started to die back could it be seen.

I have that.

Not sure what the plans are, but will have a burn in it tonight.

Go the axe the other day, I leaned it up a bit. But only enough to make it presentable. I like the aged look on it.

I melted some wax into the stampings and you can just see the following:
Government broad arrow.
Elwell.
1945.
27 N/I.

Will see what I can find out about it, but if any one can help ( lazy Vark) I would be great full.

Appears to be a 2nd world war escape axe of sorts but no spike?

Here is it is in fire.
Burnt all the rust off, had the base a nice dull heat.
Then made pancakes, drank beer and melted some alloy.

People can't be bothered to clean cast iron stuff, I got this set of pans last summer. The big one makes a good Dutch oven on top of the woodstove for heating up pies.

today I acquired some pallet wrap......

a few days ago I ordered a panel beating hammer and dolly and a roll of pallet wrap online. I then tried to contact them over the phone to amend the delivery address and was on hold for nearly 2 hours and then they ended the call before I spoke to anyone. I later sent them an email and they didn't reply to that either.

today I got the delivery and it looks like they sent me a case of 40 rolls of pallet wrap instead of 1 roll. under normal circumstances I would try and contact them to arrange for collection, but why should I bother as they didn't answer my previous call or email, so karma has been restored, and I have give the pallet wrap to someone who can make use of it.

Not keen on the idea of setting it in with chemical metal/jb weld/metal set - especially not with 120psi under it...

How many holes does it have in it? Could you install an internally top-hatted bush into it so that the pressure keeps it seated and then JB weld? Even an external top hat with retaining screws might work if there is space.

As an alternative, and in the best purile traditions of this place, have a Google for 'Essex flange' or 'Sussex flange'.

A full face visor (Well ordered it)
had the last of a grinding disc shatter and thankfully wasn't going full pelt, hit just above my eye...enough of a wakeup call to make me realise time for some better protection.

Also a mahoosive tap wrench (m13-m32)

Also a failed air receiver (blue bottle), tapping the non standard thread to BSP didn't go to plan - for some reason just wouldn't take a thread at all, soldering the nipple in sort of worked left a pinhole leak, should have left it / sealered it. No instead I had to be "smart" , resoldered it and the leak got worse, plus forget to take a quick connect off, so now I have a leaking quick connect...horlicks...

Just a thought I've never tried it, but could you apply a slight vacuum to 'suck' the solder in?
Thinking about it, I would reheat and wipe the joint, if it's clean and the tank is vented it should take?
