Today I acquired...........

It grows like a weed here too, my mum makes as much rhubarb jam as she can & sells it for charity. We also freeze a lot of it plus supply various friends & neighbours. A local bakery sometimes gets it to bake pies, we get a gift voucher in return!

But several folk have taken roots from our plants and none of them have got them to grow successfully!

@OJCar - you probably know already but cover the plant in some well rotted horse manure, ours gets done every year.

Mine gets nothing at all other than harvested, although I did dig up a lot of its spreading roots the other year, but it just keeps on producing copious amounts every year

Two handles, they are both the same size.
In addition a old metal door latch.



Old OXO tin, it is heavy and the contents rattle. But the lid was seized when I got it.

So it was placed in ice water, just the base.


Third heavy object.

Shot with worm, but still sharp.

They are made to some stupid tight tolerance. £800 would be pants-down-new price.
They look in really good nick. 19mm spanner for the nuts.

Tolerances are set out in BS EN 12390-1. This is our bread and butter at work, we are the people the cubes get sent to. Tolerances for 150mm cube moulds are 0.15mm face to face, 0.5mm for perpendicularity to the base and 0.09mm (0.045 if you want a calibrated one) for surface flatness. Surface hardness of at least 53 HRC. We do not lend ours out because they get badly abused.

We use 150mm cubes for concrete and 100mm cubes for grout.

You don't ever want to make a grout cube without oiling the form

We get some grout in for the offshore wind turbines that makes 140mPa at 28 days. 75mm cubes not 100's the 75s are bad enough! our compression machine is ~2 tons and when the 75's let go I have seen the machine jump 2 or so mm off the ground. To put that in perspective that 75mm square cube is supporting somewhere in the region of an 80 ton compressive load just before failure.

Does that have 2 pot rings on it? and that top section (the stand off stand) does that lock in in some way or just sit on? I presume its to allow the use of smaller pans?

It does, yes.

Getting harder to find a stove with both pot rings now.

I won an Ryobi belt sander on Ebay thinking it was one of the usual Screwfix type products but when I unwrapped it I found a real beast of a tool!

I weights a ton and I was surprised to see made in Japan!

The guy even sent me a note saying I'd got a bargain!
He also put a load of spare sanding belts, a drive belt and some spare brushes!
I'm a happy bunny!

Next on the list are a load of Lin bins I picked up at Screwfix as they were re doing their storage racks and selling these off for charity.
£5 a rack and 3 for £1 for the bins!
I don't actually have anywhere to put them but I couldn't miss a bargain....

I bought a shiney new Mig welder. I actually have a couple - a BOC Smootharc 275 and my late father inlaws 230A Electra Beckum, which doesn't get used, and I should really sell it but am attatched to it since it was his.
I wanted something a bit more portable I could take outside and fix stuff instead of the stick welder blowing holes in things.
It has actually been sitting on the bench waiting for a 15A plug and flux core wire to come through the post (damn Covid lockdown).
Yesterday was the first time I have used flux core - a bit smokey and splattery, but should be handy.

200A supposedly, Mig, Tig, Arc synergic thing complete with a spool gun and connections and regulator for under $NZ1000 incl 15% GST (VAT), or 510 pounds.

They get used for lots of things, randomly. @mtt.tr will have seen them as the spring on a lok Jack possibly.

I suppose they’re cheap and easy to source.
