Thanks for that. I was rushing last weekend but I have an excellent reason. I spent six or more hours writing a version of war and peace, then promptly deleted it, properly deleted. Put me more than a day behind and I was behind anyway. Just an accumulation of my cockups.

You can do them in the microwave with varying success if you can't be bothered to deep fry. They're dirt cheap in Asian supermarkets, I always pop in to get one or two things and leave with tonnes of ingredients I'll use eventually and weird snacks you can't get anywhere else.

Today I pulled this lump out from its hiding place. No engine or gearbox but everything else there. Not sure what to do with it yet. Sell on for a quick profit (it was cheap), restore it or put a stupidly big engine in it. Only time will tell.
Also got an engine stand, come in handy for doing the essex from the other scimitar.

Looking at this place: https://www.flamefast.co.uk/hot-metal-found/torches/t2-t4-gas-torches.html where the torch looks like your one, it mentions that they can run on a fuel gas and compressed air mixture, with them offering a fan/blower unit if you do not want a full-on compressor. So the withe thing might be the old equivalent of that.
Whatever it is, its purpose is to improve on the atmospheric 20-21% oxygen supply to the torch.

I am sure we had something similar in the brazing hearth at school, torches that used natural gas with a hvlp type compressor for the air supply. It is getting on for forty years ago so I may be mistaken.

Today was a sad day, the sad duty of closing a friends shed and disposing of the contents, as his wishes dictated.
But, there was a box set aside for me.
To some it is rubbish, of cast and not worth the time.
The following is the items I can post the rest is a lot personal.
A Tram.
I used to cheep a slim cigar and a lighter in it.
This was used to open tins of condensed milk. A quick flash through a hot flame. Then if the bugs lived they deserved to.
The Brass thing, yes.
We never did do this seat, we have the wood, but time passed.
The Wood.
1 1/4" oak floor planks.
The seating area out side his shed was made from this.
Plus.
Some unknown 3" x3" hard wood, used to separate slate work tops.
Turns very well and is a bugger to cut.
Rusty tools. No. History. Each one has a funny story.
Well the spoons don't, silver spoons for the brews.
The oil can, his first rebuild/first repair at a MIS.
Meat grinders.
Used to grind bacon, suet and stuff like that to make into bird food for the winter.
They stink.
Don't know why, I just liked this simple tool.
I am not saying we liked coffee, but this was our machine.
It will be restored, as we never did.
1/2kg of beans could be done in one go.
Thank you old man.

^^ went a bit on the cheap price but unless its a good named its about right for collection its not rare so people wont drive miles for it
