Today I acquired...........

More site clearing today at my garage. Had a good few days down there chopping back the brambles and other greenery which is helping my mojo.

My bit of land around the garage backs onto the old railway line which has been turned into a footpath/cycle track so I have acquired the following

Lots of doggy poop bags complete with poop in various states of decay

Old push chair and baby clothes

Lots of drink cans, bottles and general litter

Old rotten carpets, plastic bags, a tarpaulin etc

Only 1 gem, an intact Shakespeare fishing box which apart from a collection of hooks and other stuff which I chuckled did have 2 working sea fishing reels, about 2kg of lead weights, an oil stone and stainless forceps

Keeping the stone and forceps, reels and weights are going on FB Marketplace





I suspect (know) the neighbours have also used the land as a dumping ground for all manner of household rubbish from their various renovations

The mini air orbital polisher arrived, seems decent, good weight to it. I have been too lazy to get compressor out and try it yet - too much stuff in the way.

Edit - its bloody brilliant. Compressor is running 100% but thats fine it wont be getting heavy use, more for polishing than sanding

That could be the basis for a biogas generator project! Didn't Kevin McCloud make one for his shed project (mind that was "powered" by his and the film crew's "contributions"). Seem to remember him visiting the local council's commercial one where all the poop a scoop bins got emptied.

My OH has a mannequin in her craft room for altering clothes.

I got severe earache from her for glueing a skellington's skull on it and doing an impression of Rigsby with it .

Looking forward to getting to grips with it.

If I'm honest I find it very satisfying to produce a radius by hand but I really ought to get with this modern age.

I was thinking it may have been a Mitchell. I’ve a few from when we had a boat, alongside a penn from the same era that was my first reel

I bought a larger iron surface plate to make lapping larger plates easier and the guy also had these, so I made a token offer and bought them home. Already stripped and mostly de-rusted they are not nearly as bad as they look. The screw is seized in the Nippy and I don't want to hurt it so I've dumped it in citric acid to try and eat out some of whetever is binding it up.
