Today I acquired...........

Long ago aquired some m8,m10 and m12 studding from toolstation. It was cheap and *will* be needed eventually. Today.

Today aquired.. the knowledge that it is poo! A close look the OD is correct, the pitch is correct, but it looks wrong. Minor diameter on m10 is about 6mm, because the thread angle is 15/30 degrees.
Nope, I will not be using that to hold a heavy thing to a spinny thing

Concerning that somone has gone to some effort and stupidity to make/buy the tooling for these, to be made on a massive scale in China, then sold to a big shop (different months and different branches). How much stuff is bolted together with this?

They can't be that rare Iv'e got one too. Damn good car. can swallow a surprising amount of stuff. I like that you lower the rear floor to get more stuff in. Oh and they don't go wrong

First lathe tool for my new to me Harrison M300, an eccentric engineering diamond tool holder and sharpener. It's little brother was my favourite tool on my Myford. And an induction hardened ways badge to replace the faded one on my harrison.

Take out rear floor sections fold up little leg supporty thingies and replace panels hey presto floor 3" lower. When I've done enough posts to allow me to post piccies I will post some images of this sorcery or maybe Bigegg can oblige

I think you cannot buy just the bearings any more, you have to buy bearings & a new spindle as a set and they're not cheap!

Looks like a Reitschle side channel blower, Part of Gardner Denver now. They are good things but can be prone to seizing if the bearings are a little worn. They are all ally and pick up horribly if the fan contacts the stator. There are foam lined tubes inside the inlet and outlet which act as silencers. These can break up and blow bits of foam out. They are most commonly used as aeration blowers on sewage treatment plants.

You've got a proper rigid lathe now with enough power, carbide will do A better job in most situations. Unless you're turning a gummy steel.

I have some carbide tools on order too, will be interesting to see how they compare, the diamond tool holder tooling is Crobalt, so a step up from HSS.

There was a lot of Korloy tools on Amazon and still some left. This might be a good choice for a m300 size, the shank might need a trim with grinder if you have a smaller qctp.

My nephew does house clearance,well paid work plus he gets to keep everything,people are so wasteful,rich and joe public! He doesn’t or can’t be bothered with sorting it ,so is almost as bad,but he s very tidy and careful,his dad was visiting him in Sussex,and thought this would complement my ‘60’s camper.

Another, smaller and more precise Benson vernier. I had been given the top one, which measures in both metric and imperial (good for drill bits and bolt shanks), the lower is the newer and it’s just metric. Made in Bradford.
