Yes. I know the grinder has only 1 rest and no guards.
Yes I will fit a rest and guards before I donate it to Men in Sheds.

The pink murex rods Will more than likely be VODEX rods. They are a 6013 that burns more like a 7018 with a vitreous slag.and i dont even know what there for yet there are quite a few 6013 murex and ersb but also a few others 7012?from memory and some pink ones lol
Do donations to what I assume is a charity like 'Men in Sheds' still have to jump through the hoops of PAT testing etc? Genuine question as I would hope being voluntary and non-profit-making might exempt them?
Bill, it seems to be the same old same old crud off them (repairers manufacturers)all the time, Oh it needs a new board £200 of your well earned all the time, Plus this plus that. They've got to be at it.
Terrible for falling off the wall and injuring people them. Send them down here immediately and I'll dispose of them for you.Saved 9 of these Bott tool boards from the skip and was given the bench grinder.View attachment 101809View attachment 101810

My day job is HSE so my risk assessments are removing a lot of this deathtrap equipment.......
So my conscience wouldn't allow me to put a fellow forum member at risk!!!

Yes, they do have to be PAT tested.
I worked in the charity sector for a few years (sorting out donated computers for re-use either in UK charities or schools in third work countries) and all our stuff had to be done.
There is no legal requirement for Electrical items to be PAT and inspected.
However, lots of insurance companies will tell you it is needed.
As to a yearly test, again that is the minimum asked for.
So I will ensure it is fully working and it will be PAT and inspected, why not I have the kit.
Oh yes a PAT and inspection is only valid at the time of test.
