They are not empty, they are full of lovely Scottish air and we don't have to filter up here because our roads are not clogged up with tin cans

Oh and even if I head to Englandshire the bars are as wide as the panniers so doesn't matter, if the bars fit the panniers will

I got this Wiltshire style Concentrate Dye Pot the other day.
I was told it used charcaol to melt the wax dye.

A few coffies today with a old mill worker from the town has increased my knowlage on this item.

It is a Wiltshire style dye pot, but was fuel with char cloth, not charcoal, the char cloth gave a lower temp and slow melt. This was to help the dye blend with the wax.
This is important when making up a new dye. A Kettle like this would make enough dye to do a batch of wool cloth.
The town made WD blkankets in WW2, amoung other things. So any old service people withh recall the green, blue, red and white blankets.
The old mill worker recalls in the end of the 1960's they had so many blankeys they were selling them to Pickfords as packing material.

Each pot in her mill had a number. So it could only be used for a single colour range. She has a image of a whole range of these gems on hooks above the boilers.

Plus I also got cake as we talked.

I oly went up to drop the camera off.

Now I am going to make some char cloth in the near future.

Got these free today from an old boy in the village, he had lost his kitchen lights and even though I dont normally like to get involved in stuff like that I knew if I didnt he would get tucked up by ABC lectrics with weekend call out etc, anyhow 1 replacement light switch later he was sorted, I wouldnt take any money but he did offer me these and I thought it rude to say no, unfortunately he does not have the lathe to go with them!

Of course, I know that this was about a joke, a snappy saying, but seriously ...

... I live about 1,100km southeast of you, here it is sometimes really warm and vermin from the Mediterranean region has more of a chance to survive.

I never had problems with the different critters, all went to HWMBO ....

... then, some more than six years ago, I quit smoking
... you wouldn't believe what kind of critters I attract now and always the really nasty ones with thick swellings ....
... somtimes with Doctor's visit and cortisone injections etc.

So, the decades while smoking I must have smelled quite intense ...


Anyway: I still won't get into the habit of smoking again, I'm glad to be rid of it ....
