Today I acquired...........

At Christmas I was given 4 x 50 Cal ammo box's, This one of them.
Yes, I agree a dull box.

But I notice the other day, when I noticed the paint was bubbling and peeling away.



A few hours, a few coffees and this is what I found.

A bit of history.

I ambled along to a local auction house today with a friend. It is next to a Farmers outlet. My plan was to have a decent breakfast. To much "Random falling over juice last night", he sorted out feed etc.

These items were not in the auction, but in their skip. I asked if I could take them away and was allowed to. according to the man I spoke to, they were dumped, with a note saying for you to sell. No name etc. They kept them for 6 mounths, no one came back, so they were dumped.

Good old fashion 240v work lamp.
10 feet of decent rubber 3 core cable.
But no plug. No worries.

Another Black & Decker drill. This one I plan to keep, sentimental reasons, my dad had one.
Cable is decent, no key and no plug.

Still No worries.

My friend who owns and runs a decent second hand shop put this aside for me, they make decent small stowage box's. She said there is a few small Birthday presents inside as I gave her a £10 beer token.

Early on in this post I said there were no worries about missing plugs.

1960s Black and Decker D500? Got one exactly the same, still on it's original brushes but converted the small side handle (door knob) to a conventional style.
Like you, kept for sentimental reasons.

Was out on a hunt for a forum member.
I had to suffer a Norbert, he is on regular coffee now. He brought a full English for me.
So not all bad.

But I did rescue this.

The lower left King Dick adjustable is 3" long.

The great thing about that model of B&D drill it is double insulated.

Hence why it has a 2 core cable.
Open up the trigger handle and you will find a 3 wire capacitor, with one wire going to the metal part or the drill.

So any shorts, it blows the 3amp fuse in the plug.

I *might* still have a genuine brand new briticent ceramic lampholder, got a pair from briticent gratis to repair my grandads (ceramic had went brittle after 50 odd years of use) I'll see if I can dig it out if you need it?

Thank you for the offer, but I will be hanging it on my wall as an item off curiosity.

It is well made and in good order, it's future is safe. it will not be scraped or dumped.

Good news. But some bad news.

How you take the news is depending on what side of the fence you sit on.

After the better part of 10 months of work with neck, arm and leg issues I am returning to work next week.

So less time to get finds.

But Thank you to you all on here who have kept my spirits up and enjoyed my postings.

No, but did get 10m2 of solid oak floor laminate, water damaged.
So wood for my charcoal maker,
