Good news. But some bad news.

How you take the news is depending on what side of the fence you sit on.

After the better part of 10 months of work with neck, arm and leg issues I am returning to work next week.

So less time to get finds.

But Thank you to you all on here who have kept my spirits up and enjoyed my postings.

Just think your scouting visits will be much further afield now

SWMBO sent me shopping for some groceries and a set of nailbars fell into the trolley.

I spotted these in Lidl but I have at least 6 crowbars so I don't need any more! Be interesting to know how easy these are to straighten, most of the modern stuff is too soft. I have a gorilla roughneck bar & it is rubbish!

A few more for you.

We had a similar drill for years but ours was gold & silver. It was binned when the motor burned out but it stood up to years of abuse. It was replaced by a skil drill which is still in use.
The local drill repair man refuses to repair the old metal cased power tools!

I picked up these a few weeks ago.



A heavy duty trolley that spent its life in a machine shop according to its label and in near mint condition - £10!
3x 18v cordless drills with no chargers - £2! 2 of them are cheap drills but 1 is a quality AEG & I bought them for the all metal rohm keyless chuck fitted to it. Chuck is now soaking in oil before replacing the worn chuck on my Hitachi drill.



A dia 140mm x 140 long piece of aluminium billet - £10!

Not quite today but on weds we picked up these bundles of fluff. We've now got one over the moon 4 year old and a 6 month old that doesn't know what to make of the furry things flashing past!!!

Is this stuff any good? normally use brake cleaner but it's a fair bit more expensive than that.

It's not bad, it's water based but it does break the grime down pretty good. It's done a decent job on the motor on my progress drill.

It was in an end of line clearance so might not be that price everywhere.

Use brake cleaner but rather than pay the ridiculous price for an aerosol buy a 5l can (costs about as much as 4/5 cans...) and use a pressure sprayer from about £17 off eBay - ordinary trigger sprays don't work, at least not for long. Motor factors will supply or perhaps even eBay.

Thanks Bill, that's what I already do. Although managed to get hold of an all metal spray can, no problems at all with solvents in it.

Car boot this morning, along with a good friend. I call her a good friend, she brought me a full English.

She did her thing and got a load of arty crafty stuff.
It look a good haul.

I got a bundle of drills. Looks like a family selling of a departed family member stuff.
The drills were the only stuff spending a fe sheckles on.


Not the best image, but about 100 drills. Some good, some new and some mallard.

I was told this "drill" is no good as it is broken.



Stamped on the head is "GWR"
For those who don't know it is a railway track sleeper bolt.

I am still working through the box's and bags my friend gave me, he was sorting out old self storage containers, for is boss.

I am at the stage were I am sorting out stuff to be weighed in as it is no good to man or beast, stuff to spend time on when I have little or nothing to do.
I was sorting some stuff out and found this thing of beauty.

Today i acquired a Musima acoustic guitar, old East German thing, it has a split along one side where it joins the bottom but is fixable, much to my surprise it has a lovely bluesy tone & comes with a set of brand new D,arriaro strings on it.
Thinking its going to get a piezo rod transducer in the bridge & a preamp. Another basket case to fix!
