Well I didn't actually get today, but I did order and hopefully in about 12 weeks, three months, I will get my new boots. I had to go off to Sheffield today so I took an "alternative" route, via William Lennon Boots: https://www.rufflander.co.uk/. This all came about from a post @mtt.tr made a while back. My feet are odd, no surprise, they are at least an H fitting in width, possibly a bit more and finding shoes and boots is a nightmare, yes folks Puppy Dog ******** up my supply of work shoes too. Can't get the exact model and size anymore, from Germany. So I decided I would have a pair that fit and would last, if I wear these out they can be resoled at least and rebuilt, they actually make these in a real workshop by real craftsmen and you can pretty much order the combinations you want, biggest plus is they are not out_of_sight_prices either. Try buying a pair of Lobb or Trickers with anything out of the ordinary, brace yourself. Nothing was too much trouble AND I got to try a pair to make double sure they would fit and they are made to my specification. Let's face it we spend a LOT of time at work, you need good kit.
Finding the place was an adventure, I passed it twice and had to call the very helpful lady in the office, this is the factory entrance:
It is a very non descript door just on a residential street in a quaint village in the Peak District, the building is the old flour mill, you have to go down to get up if you know what I mean.
Most of the machinery is vintage, operated by some highly skilled individuals, you can see exactly what you are getting for your money and frankly they are cheap for what they are, a very worthwhile trip out and I look forward to the email telling me they are ready. It says on the web page linked they are £183.95p. For a custom handmade pair of boots, I don't think that's a bad price at all

I didn't do anything like this but I do have my little experience in Airsoft , it's fun nobody get injured (well when everything goes well) and you can shoot to someone without bothering about tribunals or jail

This partial staircase was given to me by the customer that asked me to adapt it from its original 15 flight,to a 5 flight and fit it to his entrance door,that was 12 years ago,today he drops the remainder off.

£183.95 and they take cash too. They are not dear at that, regular rubbish are £75 and last ten minutes AND cripple me because they don't fit properly, I have to get a ten in order to get the width, makes my feet look ridiculous and I really don't need any help in the ridicule department!

I had some 'made to fit' Altberg boots in 1994, took 20 minutes to measure my feet, three weeks to make (in a queue!) and fitted perfectly, cost over £200 - I replaced them in 2018 after having them resoled twice due to damage more than wear, great boots - wouldn't buy from them now though. The ones I replaced them with are Lowa, tried on three or four pairs until I got the width/length combination right though, I was in the shop for well over an hour!
The biggest difference you can make to a pair of boots, especially ones you wear for days at a time is the footbeds, Sorbothane are the best I've ever used.
