... some small parts with which I hope to fix a grievance or at least improve an unsatisfactory situation.
It is probably known that the small Myfords are susceptible to end play and backlash in the supports.
Either I could reduce the backlash to a low level so far, but then had enormously stiff controls
or the machine could be operated pleasantly smoothly and effortlessly, but then the backlashes were too large.
Now I have had very good experiences with the use of thrust bearings on my Multifix Aa QCTP ...
.... why not give thrust bearings in this application a try.
It seems that the metrified ML7 (serial number has the suffix "M") delivered via official importers to MetricLand got the feedscrew and indexable micrometer scales of the Super7 from the beginning - at least I can say that for Germany and Holland quite probably.
That means that you have to find thrust bearings with an inner diameter that fit on a 1/2" shaft for this purpose.
That sounds simple, but the fact is that I have not found such bearings in all of Europe at a price that seemed acceptable to me

so I had to orient myself to the Land of Smiles .... there I found them, expectably cheap, of not exactly predictable quality and associated with agonizing waiting time.
Today three and a half weeks had passed and the bearings were in my mailbox:
Now I hope to have enough space to plant two of these bearings on each of the two feedscrews, where they go through the respective front panel of their support ....
Let's see what comes out of this ....

Stopped by the "Shed" as they call it at the local recycling centre. Nothing good tool wise, but I did acquire a couple of old mineral water bottles.
The most interesting is the one without a base. Its marked Genuine Superior Arated Waters, Carter & Co.. , Bristol , Established 1831 .
The other bottle has the captive marble in the neck, and is marked J. Woods & Co. , Aldershot , and Mineral Water. This bottle had the remnants of a red rubber washer inside.
Any bottle collectors here that know a bit more about the one without a base ?

Not a collector but know that they were shaped like this to prevent the cork from drying out and the "aerated" water losing its carbonation

It is a Hand Grenade bottle.
Made by the 100’s for many drink producers. Worth anything from £1 to £50. Depending on the drink or medication it contained.
Natural cork was the original stopper, before natural rubber came along. By storing the bottle on it side it kept the cork moist.
I have one or two here.
What does it say on the bottle?
That will give you a starting price.

Bit of a odd day.
A skip dive, a box in the mail and a "Boss paid for it".
Plus a rumage in a "Going to the dump" box.
The skip find.
Just shy of 9 feet of wide pitch pine boards.
A full tin of decking oil.
A vintage AA Badge.
I think the number was members number.
Todays job was sort out contacts on a assorted parts of a fire alarm. The units are on back order and will not leave the USA untill Jan 23. All we can do is extend the life by cleaning the contacts.
Guess what one I used, as there was 2 of each type?
Sneaked this set in as well. I have had a few of theses in the past.

The box that was in the sorting office has come from a far away land.
Hong Kong.
Was meant to be a 1950's British SLR cleaning kit.
Some of it is, the broard arrow stamp confirms that.
But.
This was the let down.
Made by H&K, in 2008.
It may be used on the H&Ks as well as the SA80 and SLR. But not the dates I am looking for.
The dealer has replied and he is refunding 60% of the cost.
This tin I found in second hand shop, £1.
Un used.
