In our country, the DO licences - presumably the analogue to your M3 licences - were a success in facilitating the entry into the subject.

Take advantage of the freedom you have gained and be sure to keep learning to progress to the higher grades.

The level of freedom when you are allowed to build your own equipment and determine its interference resistance is a whole lot more liberty.

I can recommend the Essex Ham online course, it helped but you do have to do your own study as there are a few gaps in the training.

Today I acquired...the source of the annoying clicking coming from my Volvo.

Took the tension off the aux belt...all pulleys rotated ok.

Decided to remove the belt so I could run the engine without the belt...at which point the source of the noise became quite apparent!

No idea what caused this...it looks like an object must have got into the belt!

Will need a new belt...on Volvo engines I think the aux belt runs next to the cam belt....if the aux belt snaps it can pull the cam belt off too.

Today, I acquired a hellishly noisy washing machine bearing, after the floods.
It was grumbling a very slight amount for the past year and I'd put it off as it didn't get any worse. Well, it has now.
Luckily it's a 20 year old Bosch, and parts are available.
It's not supposed to be fixable, but just at the start of the properly naff designs, so it's actually do-able with the right kit.

Wife put the washing machine on earlier, suddenly a huge clonk & it now refuses to spin. It’s a 20 year old Miele, but it’s insured, a new one if it can’t be fixed. If they replace it I expect another Miele, not a cheap & nasty one, we shall see.

I had a wee wander around the Aldi website last week, and decided to buy some cordless power tools. After a lot of humming and hawing, I went for the grinder, a cordless air compressor, and an air pump, plus 2 x 20v batteries and the 20/40v charger.

I went for the 20v, as it should suit my needs better, and I didn’t want to have too many different batteries hanging about.

Now, I just need the time to play with them.

It seems to be working now, I’ve just sent Mrs C down to the stream to bash the sheets over a rock, that never breaks down, but I keep hearing a grumbling moaning sound, is this normal or is she playing up as well?
