Only an associate member, so it doesn't really count, anyone can be an associate as far as I know. Not sure what the next step is but I'll hopefully be CEng in a few years.
The company I'm with now is in the process of signing up and paying the fees, if I had to pay myself I probably wouldn't bother.
I hope that by the time you get to CEng, you work for a company that pays the IET fees. They get very pricey for chartered members!
Congrats, it is the begging of a journey. Mines a bit battered but it can help to get a job I am MIET but a little too old to go for CEng now.I acquired a very bland card, with my name on the back.

Not sure I'll get any further tonight, its the youngest daughter's 14th tomorrow and she's got friends around on a sleep over trashing the house
Our new facilty issues toolboxes to fitters . . . so when I was over there, I was using tools from the toolbox assigned to the job . . . many files, one handle. When I asked the manager if they forgot, or someone stole them, I was told they only issue one and you have to swap it from file to file.I'm not sure. I've always assumed the temporary/permanent status was down to individual preference? I'd personally prefer permanent.
My previous employer paid my IMechE fees. Sometimes funny to pull the card from inside my boiler suit when climbing out of some tank or machine to reveal I outranked someone being annoying . . .The company I'm with now is in the process of signing up and paying the fees, if I had to pay myself I probably wouldn't bother.
I know.That's cute.
I'm a knipex fan, but must admit I'm slightly disappointed with the quality of the end grind on these. Its a bit on the ****.
I guess I can hit it with the belt sander and square it up but feel I really shouldn’t have to for the price.
Otherwise they seem nice though.
Thanks to @Bornfree and @jack-daniels for posting theirs up on here - I'm curious to know if you guys have the same on yours too.
You're worth investing in yourself , though many people think they aren't and so have a lower earning capability throughout their working lives . These days unless you want to end up on minimum income state benefits all your life you have to wake up to doing the work, possibly funding it yourself .The company I'm with now is in the process of signing up and paying the fees, if I had to pay myself I probably wouldn't bother.

My mind is fine but I only really do consulting these days. Time is precious and I would rather spend it pursuing hobbies than working. I am happy enough where I am, getting stronger each day but also knowing I could have a relapse at any time.Age is but a number , if your mind & body are good go for it .
I've had one of those for years - mine came with two footplates that link together so you can use it as a work platform.View attachment 381991
I've been after one of these multi purpose folding ladders for ages but couldn't justify the cost. Picked this one up last week at an auction for only £15. A bit paint splattered but fully working and no wobble in the joints.
When set up like this its a nice height for a portable bench!

Too high for stuff like normal ceilings, but handy for stuff a bit higher (like getting at my Hi-Top van roof).
Can be handy for use on stairs also.
