The drill bit on that looks the same as the "twist and wallop" Rawldrills that I remember as a kid. I may even still have one somewhere.

Think I've still got my dad's hammer operated Rawldrills somewhere and possibly some lengths of Rawlplug that go in the hole then cut to length.

Yeah exactly the same and sized for the lengths of fibre rawlplug @Robotstar5 mentions.

I have just tried it on the garden wall, I reckon by July or August if I keep at it I will have a 20mm deep hole

before those was a small punch with a cross cut end that you hammered and turned by hand to make the hole for the plug

I've got one of those in my toolbox, wasn't sure what it was for exactly, so thanks Think it belonged to my Dad.

& a hole through so you can drive a drift in to change the pointy bit in days of old & men were bold & cordless drills weren't invented, I worked for an electrician, it was one of those or a hand drill on site.

Don't go to bootsales to buy, I like my bed too much, but we have a stall at a few 3 or 4 times a year to raise money for my wifes dog rescue fundraising. So today we did one and I went and had a look round and got this Rage saw for a tenner. Took a punt as I couldn't run it, but seeing as it has a brand new, unused blade I thought it was worth it!



It runs fine but has been well used. It is missing the side guard and all the sliding guard parts.

Is it worth me buying the guards? I don't mean for safety but are they good or useless at keeping the metal chips in?

Had a few tools from a tool shop closing for refurbishment in Ross on Wye. Britool sockets 3/8 drive £10, Britool driver bits 3/8 drive £4, King Dick spanners 60 pence each, Elliot Lucas pliers £4 and screws £1.

If it is anything like my cut off saw all the sparks and debris fires to the back and then bounces back somewhat, I doubt the guard is doing anything other than stopping me chopping my fingers off.

Modern, almost new Ratchet Insulated Crimping pliers.
Not for me, I have enough of them. But For Mini Me.

The lower set is a pair of "Mole Style" Insulated Crimping pliers. But some one had Added to them a set of "Boot Lace" crimpers.

We had similar fun installing a new printer yesterday. You'd think they'd give you a comprehensive installation manual, but the chaps at Epson seem to like abbreviating every sentence to five words or fewer. One of the steps was 'Make the fax connection'... okay, and how do we do that?

I have a few rawl punches in my punch drawer, they make very good pin punches. I also keep one handy when I'm using my cordless drill to drill concrete blocks. Sometimes you hit a bit of hard stone the drill bounces off. A few thumps with a rawl punch & a hammer is enough to break up the stone allowing drilling to continue.

nice and shiny i would not want to use it

to keep it clean keep a bag of decrative stones handy throw them in dry and put back in to a bucket then swill with water. The stones keep it clean act as a brush

Few perks of my job.

In those buildings there are places I get to go what can be forgotten to the staff.

Today was a good day for all of the above.





Both earmarked to be removed and skipped as "Non productive to the site"
I asked if I could remove them and have them.
The answer was "Yes, but can you pay the admin fee and the £8 disposal fee today?
