Do you have to pack the unsupported tracking with more adjustable packing or is what you have in the picture sufficient not to vibrate during cutting?

The track/rail mounts is what came from the OEM, there is no vibration with a plasma/oxy torch.
OK, today I'm at home as OH is only a few days out of surgery- ad is been drizzling so the new saw got some attention.
I've put GL5 EP90 gear oil in the gearbox.... now I've just caught up with advice and it's the wrong stuff

Ah well, its not a hard thing to redo.
I've had to clean everything, replace some wrong iffy bolts, and all the guide bearings were kaput, so a pop to David Harries in Whitland and 6 new bearings fitted as well.
Pretty sure the blade is kaput too, so I'll get a new one... but it works and seems basically OK.
I'll add some bracing and add a tray as it's missing now I have a bit of faith it's worth the effort.

Very nice, my only comment is that the console needs rotating 90 degrees. Very dificult to access where it is orientated.

I'm told it's SAE90, so a monograde mineral "engine" type oil I suspect, as opposed to an EP (Extreme Pressure) 90-weight gear oil
Not me - you!You'll need to talk with the OEM about that.....
My console, being a PC keyboard and monitor, sit on a foldaway shelf for easy acess

An unexpected MOT pass, checked the lights yesterday and found the driver mirror indicator not working so after I'd dropped the car off I spent a couple of hours looking for a replacement and found one for £65 but didn't buy in case the tester missed it on the test.

Well Turbo - you're part prophet!
The guide bearings were gritty, sticky, rumble and shot to hell - rubber shielded 6000 bearings x6 are now fitted.
(The gearbox is oil, and you start with blade down to keep it in there while you get the lid off, then tip it up to get the oil out, then down again to refill).
Just ordered the saw blade you recommended
.Downloaded the setting-up guide also - but think my saw pre-dates the MKIII, as to alter the blade angle it seems you have to twist the guide blocks themselves to twist the blade as it passes through the guide bearings . Not messed too much as no point without a new blade.
I've reversed the brackets on the spring tensioner for the saw weight on the workpiece so I've more tension - this allows me to take a lot more weight off than it was at max before, and I've moved the belt from mid-speed to slowest.
It does run smoother and cut better (if not totally square) with the naff blade now its not full of metal grit and crunchy bearings, and the so hopefully it'll be a decent bit of kit with a blade and a bit more fettling

No today but over the last few days these few bits have been acquired. Considering the combination through set was only £20+ postage it's not bad quality so far, time will tell!
These I've been looking at for ages but not bough, well must say I'm very impressed with them both. Rhs pair are Japanese and have a similar jaw to the Knipex for gripping chewed bolt/screw heads, seem nice but not as good quality as the Knipex which is a bit of a shame!
Also got 5 pairs of the blue handled sidecutters that are excellent and the mini 1/4' ratchet someone else posted on here, also excellent and finally two armeg 1/4 extension bars for drilling very long holes!
Can't seem to post the pic as its too large!

I've had that very set in the van for about 3 years been very good with some hard use , been good for long threaded bar when bolting up joists etc mine were a tenner from either lidl's or aldi . Bought because I've never had any problems with Cresent stuff.

Thats good to hear cheers, it does seem a good ratchet, I'll give it a good test too doing much the same, threaded rod for hanging cable tray and brackets!
