I got a few bits of metal which I can use on the lathe. More mystery metal (about 95% of my stock is mystery metal).

I also took a chance on machine coolant pump. If it still works I am on to a winner.

Last but not least I got this trolley where you can slightly raise the platform by engaging the hooks onto the handle. There is then a 'hook' which engages wich keeps the platform raised.

I have no idea what the original purpose of the trolley was, does anybody have an idea?

I was hoping with a little bit of modification I can make it into a machine base - raise the platform to move the machine around and lower the platform so that the machine sits on legs.

I think it was an early form of pallet truck before sizes were made a bit more standard

Number of years back I happened to be at an old paint factory in Norwich that was being demolished.

They had tons of these but a slightly different idea.

Theirs were (I think, it’s been a while!) an axle at one end with two fixed wheels, and a pair of feet at the other. There was an eye at the ‘feet’ end and a hook at the axle end.

About 2’ wide and 4’ long with a solid top.

There were a number of wheeled handles, like a F1 pit Jack. You put it in the eye, pushed down and that made the front half of a articulated trolley. You could link them into a train as well

I can ask my pal if he’s got a picture if he’s any left as he liberated loads of them. They’re really handy around a workshop.

Yours may be a variation on a theme, from a different manufacturer?

It was an old factory and these probably pre dated the war, let alone forklifts. I imagine a guy would spend a shift tugging these things about hence more dollies than handles?

Ratchets look like halfords maybe? Had mine 16yr + and not been kind to it, still on the original mechanism.

blimey. i've not seen one come up for some time - how much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

I've got a crawford one but it takes reverse 5c collets, apparently it can be adapted to take conventional 5c collets but then that makes my set of imperial collets redundant. Catch 22

I also have one of those left-hand thread collet chucks. Not sure of the make but will look it out later. I'm lead to believe it's quite straightforward to convert them to take standard 5C collets, only problem is the chuck key works in reverse (CCW to tighten). I'll probably keep it as-is in case I pick up any more left-hand collets.

And I also have another 5C collet chuck (yes, I know, I know...) that looks to be in great condition but has some weirdness going on internally. It appears to take 5C collets, and when I've dismantled it the internal threaded plate accepts a 5C collet BUT a 5C collet can't quite pass internally. I realise I'm not explaining this well. OK. Let me look out that other chuck when I have a chance. It may be what you need.

A rear toolpost for the Myford, spotted on the local Gumtree while 'grazing', and the seller even delivered it to my door personally for £35. The holder has SGIH26/2(G) etched on it, does anyone know for sure which tips it needs, before I buy the wrong ones?

Hopefully it'll make parting off easier...... .

26 means 26mm deep. The blade is probably 2mm wide.

Possibly takes GTN2 inserts but don't quote me

If you don't have the optional long cross slide fitted you'll have to add an extension plate to fit the rear toolpost. Otherwise you are restricted to turning very small diameters!

Copper brake pipe that isnt copper, thats the magnetic base of my torch picking the pipe up! before I get shouted at that I shouldnt use copper Ive never had a failure in 40 years, if its clipped and supported properly its fine
