I'm after a decent laser level, don't mind spending a bit on one as long as it's not silly money

any recommendations?

I've never used one before, know nothing about them apart from seeing other people using them

That would depend on what you intend to do with it.
If you just want something to setup dimensions for things like partitioning, then anything.
If you want something highly accurate for doing things like setting up foundations, then it's going to cost you far more.

Off course, if you try doing the later with the former, you'll likely be the subject of tales from surveyors when they have to create independent reports for why things don't line up. (My neighbour is a highly regarded surveyor, and he has many tales about builders using £100 Screwfix specials to setup critical things like foundations. His favourite was the builder who used a cheap laser to setup a swimming pool surround, and ended up with a 4" height difference between the two ends )

Final (I think) bit of framing for the new office space. Dark room in the foreground and bog in the rear corner. Made some last minute changes to work with the exposed beams. The bathroom was made slightly larger so that the beam can be wrapped in plasterboard but the darkroom was made slightly smaller so that the plasterboard sits behind the beam rather than straddling it.

Also not perfectly square but then the building isn't (about an inch and a half wider by the window compared to the end behind me). Having said that the outside dimensions of the building are within a 1/4" over 40 foot so it's just the internals which are slightly out - could be the internal stud work .

Still better than the big PVC patio door that was installed recently - half an inch off vertical on one side at 6ft... Not like they didn't have a square frame to work with being 30kg/m 8" universal column - not 100% square / level but within 1/4" at 3m so a damn sight straighter than the window. In fact it's not that it's the top left corner of the window has to lean out 1/2" to get the correct gap for the doors to function properly. Stupid PVC.

Finally got a fixed steady for my lathe as it was missing , this one will fit but needs base modifing seems a shame as it a nice bit of kit but 25kg ! I couldnt pass it by as it was £75 on FB

I also discovered my 15g bostitch pins weren't such a bargain

as not all 15g angled brads are the same angle ! I really should have have done my research !

We spent a lot of time, effort, and a bit of cash to jack and level the entire house that we're restoring, so that the outside walls and roof lines of the house are quite straight and square, or at least better than they were when the house was built over 200 years ago. However, like yours, the internal dimensions are still off enough that they are a challenge to deal with. The hand-hewn beams and hand-sawn studs, etc. vary in cross-section, and It seems that when they built the house, they placed the beams and studs so that the external measurements were reasonably decent, but didn't worry much about the inside, figuring that they could make up for it with plaster, shims, and cheating. While it's tricky to deal with sometimes, on the plus side I think that having to custom-fit almost every new or replacement piece of wood has really improved my carpentry skills.

Oh it wasn't a dig at the Victorians who built it, far from the opposite. You wouldn't get a new build that accurate. The out of squareness is probably down to my floor which everything was built from. The wall parts are a couple of lengths of 12x3" timbers concreted and bolted into the old joist holes, so they're almost certainly not parallel. When you're up a ladder manhandling a 4.8m plate like that on your own you're just grateful when it stays there.

The house which is roughly 70x100ft when viewed from on top but with various rooms sticking in all directions with porches, turrets etc. I measured that with a tape and assumed all the angles were 90°, when I drew it in CAD it was only an inch off meeting. That's bloody impressive.

Need to make a little plate to mount it as the 4 holes to mount the chuck fall right at the end of the tee slots on the table face... Typical of my luck mounting chucks tbh!

Yep made in Spain. Seems very good quality. Haven't quite worked out the worm engagement so I get it every time yet but it's not likely to get masses of use, just had a job in mind for it and the price was OK/funds were there!

This in the order they were removed from my car.

29 containers of assorted item.

Drill, sand paper, jig saw and a lot more.

Angle grinder and a bench grinder, with a drive shaft.

Detail sander, battery charger and assorted tools.

Tool box and assorted tools.

It's and bits.

Jump starter.

Pressure washer.

A nice assortment of hand saws.

Not today but a couple days ago. Won this new boxed on ebay. I already have a wi fi endoscope but this one is handy being all self contained and has live zoom function etc too which the other one does not. The cable is also only about 1 m long which I like and is high quality.
