I sold the reg number off of it for £1200! It wasn’t a concours resto, did the chassis, steering, drivetrain etc. to make it a decent driver, used to commute in it daily for two years.

Its a fairly big lump. It will get restored when I have time and will be handy for the odd DIY project I have which does involve wood.

I will do a build thread on it, might not be the fastest project in the world as I seem to be really busy at the moment, but do hope to make a start on it soon.

I worked with a guy who went on a weeks course (somewhere in Yorkshire I think?) where he got to build his own bike frame. I don’t know much more detail than that as I’m not really into cycling but it sounded interesting from an engineering point of view.

Don’t think it was cheap, but he wasn’t short of a bob or two!

A heated wing mirror kit for my Defender. I fitted one years ago and was handy. The mirrors were getting tatty, so replaced them with the new doors.

The sub zero temperatures, especially at night outside work are a pain with iced mirrors.

Mud UK kit looks superior to what I fitted previously with carbon cloth elements.

I fitted a pair about 15 years ago, one failed after about 10 years, the terminal sheared off with vibration I suspect.

Mine has a heated screen as standard and aircon, which is also handy for demisting the interior.

Blob of glue gun glue to hold the wire near the terminal helps stop "The Vibes Man!"

There are quite a few places that offer bike building courses. Some have a reputation for getting you to build a bike but without really teaching you the skills to build another one after, where as a few are better at actually teaching the skills needed. I think one of the best regarded was the 'bicycle academy' but that closed at the start of the year. The courses aren't cheap, but are about the same as getting a custom frame made.
I decided to stop just thinking about it and order a basic tube set and have a go as I've got the welder anyway. All the tubes are straight gauge with the main triangle being 0.9mm wall so hopefully shouldn't be too hard to weld. Won't be the lightest bike.

Went to ATS for spares. Would have got two of the 38DL but they are seventeen pounds each, and the panther was more

Also got a new clear fuel can to keep in the car.

The surprisingly effective sprung dot punch is a big improvement on my eclipse auto centre punch,leaves a decent divit and it’s a rolson,faith restored,with this anyway.

I'll have to look out for one of those if it's any good. I've got a couple, the most recent one is branded "Eclipse" and is pretty good, but doesn't "fire" all the time. It wasn't until I left the show where I bought it that I recalled that people are faking Eclipse stuff now - my basic scribe was a fake, the point snapped off when it fell off the bench and hit the floor. It works most of the time, but not all of it.
