All my personal stuff is well past any dates and it does seem to work ie nothing has come undone on its own.Interesting, I wonder if it has an in use shelf life, as in use it within shelf life period and the joint has to be re-made after a certain alloted time?
Certainly my stud lock and bearing fit seemed to be fine last time I used them.
A copy of 'A Small Shop Notebook' will reveal a page or two of Edwardian thread locking techniques , all of which are fiendishly cunning, and one even involves the use of molten sulphur.....All my personal stuff is well past any dates and it does seem to work ie nothing has come undone on its own.
The work application does rely on it actually working for the component to be used - and it failed at very low torque.
Colleagues call with Henkel (loctite. - hope did better then me as I never seem to get far with the UK side of things) veered into the amusing. Apparently "permanent" thread lock isn't actually meant to be permanent.
Weird as we've also have some lock up solid when assembling, never mind in use.
It was the sillily low break torque that was suggested - didn't seem temporary, never mind permanent.@bricol I'm not surprised they would not say it is meant to be permanent, you can't put an end date to permanent.
I read somewhere that if it was still liquid it would be Ok, but it too is for personal use.
I wouldn't like to rely on it in a situation where it goes through heat cycles, is in contact with other liquids and can't be monitored, just don't think I'm that trusting of any adhesives.
Do Boeing use Loctite? It was the sillily low break torque that was suggested - didn't seem temporary, never mind permanent.
My suggestions was to bug ger the threads up on the last bit to be screwed in . . .
Have you a picture of your car?An MOT at 7am on my Lancia
Considering at midday yesterday most of the front wasn't attached, including both front suspensions, driveshafts, etc, even by 7pm last night I still needed to fit the offside front suspension, bonnet, fill it with fluids, etc - landed back on the floor at 9.30, started first turn and drove to top of drive, so I'm quite pleased..
Had the engine/box out (which requires a lot of other stuff to come off to be able to drop the engine/box on the floor, to then lift the car up to foll it out from under). Box is nice and silent again after a failed bearing was replaced.
Not driven it for some months and it felt like being in a glass house - slim roof pillars meaning excellent visibility all round compared to my Dodge or any modern car I've been in recently. Taxed from tomorrow ready for commuting duties - really looking forward to using it again - it just makes me smile
I feel they changed the recipy, when they started putting expire dates on x years ago.Interesting, I wonder if it has an in use shelf life, as in use it within shelf life period and the joint has to be re-made after a certain alloted time?

It got used a lot last year - take the rear and passenger seat out and you can get long lengths of stuff in it, fridges, freezers, washing machines, armchairs - ie contents of my mum's house as I cleared it once it had sold. Complete with a loaded trailer tied on the back on the genuine Lancia detachable towbar - unlike most of my more modern cars, all the mounting points were already there - it simply bolted in.Have you a picture of your car?
I love the fact you use it and have a lot of mileage on it. Way more interesting than some £50K modern Eurobox.
I have to prepare my equipment too but I don't really use a maul, I use my hatchet and occasionally a wedge and sledge hammer.I'm building up my pile little by little too. My pile probably won't last long once winter comes though, so I need to build it up quite a bit, methinks.
Not the usual red which is rare quite honestly and those OZ Montecarlo rims are just the perfect choice for this car, even better than the original ones
