Today I acquired...........

Not sure if I posted a pic of my Gilpin pry bar. Looks like any other to be quite honest but it's the knowing that it's good quality, plus the steel is coming up lovely with a light wire brush and oil

This I got today however. I was willing to go up to $25 so I was thrilled the seller asked a mere $10. Elwell of Wednesbury. It looks to me like a trenching hoe. It's not an adze as they have square holes. You hardly ever see these 'bright' and with an unmarked blade, only a few spots of rust so I may brush the rest off and oil it. No patina to speak of. One of my better bargains!

It is a trenching Hoe. Should have a short ish hickory or ash handle.

Double wedged with one hard wood and at 90deg soft wood wedge.

We have a few down the allotment. Great for been trenches.

Ash never makes an appearance here, it'll be hickory. I've actually got a hickory pick handle coming in the post for this pretty little mattock by Parkes of Birmingham

I know you like broad arrows on here so maybe you can help me out with this. It's a teapot, probably about four cups - there are holes on the inside of the spout, definitely not a coffee pot. The underside reads 'P.B. 1984 (broad arrow)' then underneath '120-3404'. $25, seemed okay for what's a nice bit of silver plate but I'd love to know where it's actually from

'120-3404' tells me it is NATO. There should be some more numbers in front of that.
Those numbers are the part number.

What it is?
Officer silver plated tea pot.

Just the P.B. 1984 then the broad arrow. I've yet to see whether it brews a higher class cup of tea!

A big old vice, no maker's mark that I can spot. Has a 11½" throat. Mug for scale.

Absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with it but I just had to rescue it from the "artist" who was going to "upcycle" it.

Heh, I'm an artist but if there's something I hate more than anything it's good stuff broken up for 'cool' art that nobody buys.

That was in one of the box's I recovered to my house. A old GPO single hole punch and a brass hose nozzle.

What caught my eye was the jaws. The lower pair moves on a central point.





Plus I brought this small wide tong rake.
There are manufacture marks on both head and handle, but badly worn. Both look the same. Only thing I can make out from the pair is;
Wiltshire and 1849.

Four digit numbers are more likely to be a catalogue number rather than a date. I have a Brades hammer 1773, made 1950s probably
