Today I acquired this:

Blast from the past.
Last year, when at a village fate, among other stuff I got my hands on this.



Yes, another blow torch. That's how I got it.
Yes, it was cheep, but it came with a bunch of other bits. It sat in my box of "Jobs to do"

So, at last I decided to do something about it, why? I was board of researching stuff.



Here it is, covered in flour and citric acid, AKA lemon juice to form a paste.

Cover it and wrap in cling film to keep it the damp.



2 days later, washed off and quickly buffed up with a polishing cloth.
Sad thing is, the unreadable label has dissolved, plus the brass finish on the body as well.
Turns out it is a steel body version.

Oh well, don't one of them, until now.



All done, not as shinny as I hoped. But it is a start.

I collect paraffin / petrol lamps and stoves, I do polish them. I also have a blowlamp that I use, generally I get it going by draping a fuel soaked rag over it and setting fire to it... that one isn't shiny ;-)

Thanks, it seems in canny condition and has got quite a few bits and pieces with it. Was a bit gutted when I turned the carriage handle and it fell off in me hand but that was minor. Overall it's in good order, plus it's just 10 miles down the road from me. It's the first Boxford I've seen for sale in my area so I jumped at it.

Boxford comes to bits relatively easily and can be moved by two (or one in an emergency) with a Berlingo van/car.

Son has been collecting old Britool socket sets since he found an immaculate 1/4 drive 1950's one at a Flea Market for £5!!!
He found this miles away in Cornwall, luckily he was a very nice bloke who had had it 50 odd years, he even parcelled it up and I arranged a carrier, arrived today and lads over the moon, never seen another and its complete bar two easy to find sockets and even has a few extra bits in it.
We think its early 60s as it has the remains of the crackle paint finish and is suffixed "A" after the set number

Hope you continue to enjoy collecting the "made in England " Britool, something i have done for year's..... its fun, enjoyable and rewarding.... too easy to walk into a tool shop with a cheque book.... but to find Britool... a joy....
