Saw this ready to go to the tip and saved it, I have a few boxes of old switch gear and the like but i had a space.
Not really aquired today but this compass was in storage till i got it home today again.
Got this today from a friend who fitted it for a few weeks he thinks about 20 years ago, It is a flipfront but with cassette but it controls a remote cd box, Ideal for one of my older cars lol
Arc Tourist is correct, a Brown & Sharpe measuring tool (I had to google metrology).
But which one? (there will be a photo clue later)
Ok, as I will be busy and away from the computer tomorrow, I'm going to take a guess now. Since you mentioned that others probably didn't know what they were looking at, its most likely an old setup tool like a Planer Gage or perhaps a mechanical speed or RPM calculator.
Merry Christmas Everyone !
That is what I would say as well. Have a couple of them although M&W ones.Depth gauge?
I don't know the proper name fot it but is it for reading rpm or feed speed? It has a little wheel you hold against a moving part and a dial that displays either rpm or surface speedSorry, you're miles (per hour) out.
Here's a clue.
