Today I acquired...........

Happened across two of these Toro`s, no mower decks and they have lost their newness. All wheel hydrostatic drive and dinky little three pot diesel engines, lots of usable oddsnsodds but will see if they fire up first. Can feel a hydrostatically driven project coming on

I spent many hours of my life sitting on the greens versions of those machines - no fun in the rain......

Oxford works fine.

And I bought another welder...

Another cebora 130 mig.
Smashed mains plug, no cover, no regulator.
But the wire feed and torch are in better nick than the one I bought last month.


This one, I'm going to refurb and then sell on.

I also got a Bosch professional jigsaw.
No footplate, but otherwise working fine .
Paid a quid.
I can get a footplate for 15 notes off the bay, but I might just cast one in aluminium.

It likely is only an inch or so bigger in jaw width, but as you've already noted, there's a vast overall difference between a mechanics vice & a QR vice. Mid 70’s or older, judging from the ball end on the 'screw.

Looked into it a little further seems the ball end on the screw is the older type where the flatter one is the newer type. Stripped it down today and found ‘1924’ stamped on part of the QR mech

I must admit I caught a glimpse of myself in the window as I was taking it to the workshop, and I wouldn't fancy bumping into someone carrying one! Pretty scary.

I'll get the steel clean, mirror polished and then find some hickory for the handle. Uni starts in just over a month so I'll use their wood lathe

I have a few boxes of things from a very old butchers shop that closed down, Never thought that the choppers could be so interesting, This site is teaching me to keep more stuff in storage and go through it later...

I love the old tool catalogues, so many different shapes for different uses. Who would have thought there would be a different shape cleaver for lamb?

i had my hands full a little last night even though i was on this forum as well as i was timing my daughter for most of the evening
its her first child and i was aware she was close to full term

daughter gave birth to a healthy 6.9lb baby at 3.00am something time this morning

ive become a grandad

ooh and shes gobby as well got a right pair of lungs on her

lol no as a single parent there mum droped them both off after her contact laced with coca cola drinks all day

so one day i returned the favour and she got them like that it never happened again

2 kids are harder to look after with coca cola as my 2 went super hyper with it
