Can't remember who it was on here now, but thank you for recommending Compressorman, http://www.compressorman.co.uk. Been following him on Twitter for yonks, got in touch with him recently and he did me a cracking deal on this. Can't believe how much quieter screw compressors are!

Just need to sort out a decent sized blast cabinet now

And at this time of year pump out good heat from the cooler rad or maybe the compressor at work is knackered lol

The roller stand I have to admit is Silverline and I nearly sent it back over the Tool Station counter when I saw it but it seems quite decent apart from the handle is a bit crappy.
The Evolution mitre saw stand is good too.

Been on the lookout for a cheap set of screw drivers to keep in the house. These came up in the bargain bin at B&Q today.

Probably made of cheese but for the odd job inside they’ll be fine

Today I collected a box of car parts from John Pye auctions sight unseen on the basis there was a bag near the top which had the Forcefield brand back protector showing.



I only wanted it for the back protector!
Got it for £30 plus the hammer price and in the box was a brand new Ford/Volvo diesel injection pump (£459 on ebay), 2 glass cloths, Subaru legacy/imprezza front brake pads, Pajero rear hub assy, 1 Nipplex 38" bra (yep you read that correctly), 1 Jack Jones baseball hat, said forcefield back protector, 1 blindspot mirror, 5l of deionised water, 1 rav 4 wheel speed sensor, 1 hyundai wheel speed sensor and a 30mm dowelling jig!!! all boxed and brand new. I think I did well. Oh, yeah, the post above reminded me and a bag of 100 Silverline pozidrive screw driver bits!

Thats me busy on ebay the next few days!

Today [well, yesterday], these arrived courtesy of TYA as an unexpected gift. I've been searching in the shed for a King Dick spanner of the next size up which belonged to my Dad for comparison, but it's gone into hiding and is playing hard to get Never seen an adjustable drill like this one before - I assume joiners/cabinetmakers had sets of them of differing sizes?

Good to have, I like old tools like these as you can imagine the original/previous user(s) putting them to good use in the course of their everyday jobs - little fragments of history.

u just need a hand brace to use it now years ago second hand braces would fetch 15 quid at boot sales. u can get a newish one for a fiver now

I had a spate of buying braces, these are all J A Chapman of Sheffield, subsequently bought out by Stanley. The two that I have renovated needed bushes in the rear handle as they were wobbly as a wobbly thing. I believe bearings were a more cost option.

I've got one of the expanding bits as well, made by Ridgeway. I've had it about 40 years & never used it, might someday, kept it just in case I think they've been rather superseded by flat bits in an electric drill.

I had a spate of buying braces, these are all J A Chapman of Sheffield, subsequently bought out by Stanley. The two that I have renovated needed bushes in the rear handle as they were wobbly as a wobbly thing. I believe bearings were a more cost option.

The ones I have will be 1940's I would think, if not earlier, not looked at them for years.
Same with the expanding bits and ordinary auger bits.

The guy next door made these years ago to work on his 1972 commer walk through that he made into a motor home, The are really heavy and strong and as he only drives normal sized motor these days he has left them with us to use on the big van, Top bloke.

Sadly, they have gone the way of so many. Bought by Irwin and closed in 1998 after production moved to China.

You only need one I found this virtually unused brace by Footprint of Sheffield second hand, $7, I was very happy. They had a Ridgway tool roll with the original bits in too, plus a few Alfrid and W&P. I managed to pick up a countersink bit for free a few weeks ago which completes the set. (Though I'm still looking for some nice spoon bits). I'd never get rid of them, you can't beat that slow-speed control.

I was commenting on gaz1's comment about them still being around. The factory isn't and now the bits made in China.
