Spent many hours as young man cutting thistles with a sythe

I've done that job, but my employers wanted them gone. 'Here's a wheelbarrow, a mattock, a pair of gloves and two acres to clear'.

These toys arrived today. One is a T&J which I was delighted to find is dual measured - 21/32 (16.66) - 3/4 (19.04), the other was sold to me as an MT3 7/8 machine reamer but the seller mistook it (looks like an MT2 to me) and gave me 50% off, result! Broad arrow on the T&J and a date stamp of 1944, who knows what it might have been used for previously.

another mini moto pickup for free as it needs lots of work I'm trying to convince my son to get it started and sell as a on going project as there are a few parts to buy about 20 quidish to fix but not know knowing if will be fully working once he spends the money better to do what we can to have a play get it work if as far as we can with out spending more then a 5er and sell as is as we would have the fun of a playing for a few days and 30 quid in his pocket

We got home and started on seeing if it will just run in about an hour cleaned the carb and fuel tank new fuel and started and runs not great but a sonic carb clean and new spark plug and a few adjustments should get us there

Ps all the parts are there but we needed to remove the back wheel as there was a puncture in the back wheel

those things arnt cheap as ive found out got a good range with my 7 of them some are T & J hand reamers

I gained some reamers in a box of all sorts when I bought my laithe

This arrived, 99p [+p&p] off the 'Bay. I have a Baldrick plan......... Apparently it's from a Yamaha xv Virago 700

Disassembled, it looks thusly



and you can see why it isn't taking up space inside an engine casing.......



Currently getting a bath in the ultra-sonic tank.

Yesterday, working with a new engineer, in a garden centre, with a running water feature and a deep pond.

As he climbed down the ladder there was a splash and a few bad words.

His bunch of keys dropped into the pond.

The pond, as we found out is 5feet deep. But I had a cunning plan.

Magnet on a length of cable.

He goes first, he feels it latch onto something.
Was it his keys.
No, a screwdriver.

My go, again it attaches to something.

Keys, no.

This.


I have another go.

I get this.



That had to wait until now to get a picture, as it was more mud and crud.

Both now are in the de-rusting tank.




Yes, we got his keys back, but no more good finds.

I have not posted in this forum before because everything of note that I have aquired has come from other members and has been posted in the for sale section however today someone tried to give me a Meddings Drillthru. Which I refused to except, I now have the drill and owe him a bottle of red wine.

It just needs all the dead tree dust removing and a check over of the electrics, oh and a propper home finding for it away from my junk strewn bench.

Got this at a car booter a while back for 20 quid .its a 3ton camlock for lifting plate up to 25 mill jaws are not worn they are great for moving plate in the vertical position

Just after lunch I had a choice:

Choice one, meant the rain and mooching around for 90 mins.

Choice 2, meant facing the wrath of a Mrs TYA and moving the other bodies.

So I ambled out. muttering about needing milk.

But to be honest, that was not what I was after.
