Now The question.

Recently, at local car boots, second hand shops and jumble sales I have noticed a glut of tools, mainly hammers with a small painted part on the shaft.
Now I can find no direct link between them. None are ex MOD or Ex WD, no names and a range of past owners.

I have, for myself 4 hammers with this paint mark. 2 soft face hammers with an orange mark, 1 ball pein with a blue and finally cross pein with a black paint mark.

Any hints anyone?

Photo's? Not uncommon for some manufacturers to paint a small portion of the handle.

That's my new one. The rest I cleaned up and removed the paint. Or they are down the Men In Shed place.

They're possibly from a college. I had a lot of engineers' squares and various calipers, from a local college, all painted.

there still painted on scaffold poles and hire gear from hire shop

Yesterday, working with a new engineer, in a garden centre, with a running water feature and a deep pond.

As he climbed down the ladder there was a splash and a few bad words.

His bunch of keys dropped into the pond.

The pond, as we found out is 5feet deep. But I had a cunning plan.

Magnet on a length of cable.

He goes first, he feels it latch onto something.
Was it his keys.
No, a screwdriver.

My go, again it attaches to something.

Walking home, minding my own business, and spotted these laying on the pavement.

Two M18 plain nuts, an M14 and M12 nyloc, both unused, an M8 set screw and a very nice M10 HSS bottoming tap made in the UK

Got this a few days back but it stayed in the van, An early Morris minor A series engine 803cc maybe seized but saved from being scraped have left it with some redex and diesel mix in the bores till i can get a better look.
