I was back at the site again, I went fishing again.

I was successful. @Parm not the site we talked about. But near by.

Very collectible in the circles they are traded in. Unfortunately not much use for anything else... I’ve seen some sell over £50 before and the Massey Harris vices always go down a treat

Picked this up from the same place as my 6 inch j and s vice. Heartbreaking. Last visit it was full of huge mills Lathes and cnc machines. This time round. Bare walls and floor having years of grime mopped off it.

I have seen them for sale at "auto jumbles", "stationary engines sales" from £5:00 t0 £50. Oh well, we will see how it cleans up.

It's a late addition y the looks of it. says switch twice by 2 and 3 indexings.

All the info I have is from the description on the bay.

Works well. Could do with a good clean/paint.
12 pull/push on the lever =one rotation. Currently sat at 30 degrees. The little knob locks the spindle against accidental knocks.
Need to clamp it down to get the collet out.

Anyone seen one before. Would be good to know what I might find inside before I strip it down.

erm as an after thought would it be worth considering getting another 2 beams one in the middle of that one and also one as a post in center post back there

then at least you could fit a chain hoist onto that beam ?

you know for that just incase subject ?

i have a smaller beam that will sit centre on the beam at the front that runs to the 6 meter beam behind that will replace above the doors, It will be ok for lifting but it will be a nice feature as i am trying to make it look more like a barn as its gets finished.

That's as far as I made it today.

Collet and mandrel

adjustment ring. Can just see the sprung tooth near the cut out to engage the teeth. Top internal rotates to set degrees.

Stuck at this point. Top right can see the sprung locking tooth. Grub screw on the base locks the piston in or out.
Center collar has what looks like a key in the slot won't budge. Not sure if it's threaded on.
The two holes in the gear are threaded. Look like there tapped through rather than blind but depth of the teeth is greater than depth of holes. Gonna soak it and see if the key will free up.

24 teeth so 15 degree increments up to 90 degrees for each handle movement

Zero play in any of the mech so should be accurate

Only markings so far found zt-b 24r on the gear and 64248 on the base.

It's that industrial placcy stuff you can get, bit of degreaser and she'll be right

3 children mate fsr worse on it. Bit of machine oil won't even be noticed lol. And as above post wipes off easily and the cloths replaced every 3 months or so. Parts pretty clean actually.just a little surface oil and moly inside. Paints manky though and swarf inside.

Yeah he's a bit hit and miss... ironically the messages I've sent in the middle of my daytime (1am in the UK) have received instant responses, but the ones I send at night here go unreplied. He sent me a locking nut for my Fobco free of charge which was very kind considering postage was about five quid.
