None as of yet but it's a while til the lathe is going, just couldn't pass them up as the multisize metric ones are rarer than the imperial ones, and I haven't seen too many of them here either and never in a tin before. In the meantime it's something to weigh the tarp over the Bantam down

I have 1 canvas carry bag, but sadly the one what came with the bare metal pair crumbled.

I got issued some once, the drill was to cut the wire through an empty sand bag to kill the noise. They come with barbed wire proof oven gloves if I remember.

• Went to auto jumble today , wanted lights for me landy but the prices were stupid, picked these items up though, the cap tally brought back memories as I was the youngest serving member on Christmas Day 1966 I as appointed Captain for the day , Tot time came and went , I don't remember much after lunch, the rover tools book includes Landrover S1 tools and the leccy fire is gonna look good in y future man cave, interestingly the plug has an internal switch, never seen one before,total £ 20

The paint removed, what a horrible paint. It ended up being burnt off. Even then it was a royal pain in the ......

They don't look half bad, until you look again.

But the cutting faces are in good condition and work well.

My day was quite productive, I got all these taps, new old stock USA made. I hope they are good quality. Most boxes have 12 taps in, the M12 and M14 have 6 each but unfortunately those are fine threads which I didn’t realise. Paid £40 for the lot, which if they are good, I won’t need to buy another metric tap, until I need one for a blind hole, but then I could just cut the end off one.



Mitutoyo 280mm vernier Caliper and a 200mm 8inch unbranded height gauge, £55 the pair. Not sure, didn’t seem too badly priced?



New old stock Jacobs 1/2 inch chuck with key, £10. I’ll need to spend another 10 to get an arbor so I can use it in my mill. Got to be better than the Chinese chuck that came with the mill though, 12mm drill slips in that no matter how tight.



And to satisfy my other hobbies, a nice little Optimus 8r petrol stove, should clean up nice, I’ll post a pic once I’ve done it. Looks like the last person to use it had a little drama judging by the soot in the lid.

This clamp came back today, It was in a old car i picked up quite rusty but someone gave it a clean up, Then he told me he collects them and he had a sad dog face on him when he said it so i gave it him for his collection...

Anti fatigue matting. Makes a huge difference to a day stood infront of a bench/mill/lathe ....
I’ve used some cheap rubber enertance mats for the last 20yrs, they’ stood up well but really need changing

I was intrigued to see thick rubber matting on sale at the local Farmers' Co-op. Turns out cows benefit from standing on anti-fatigue matting, too.
It's not cheap, though. I was cheeky enough to point out the one I was looking at was definitely shop-soiled and should be offered to me at a bit of a discount, but they weren't wearing it.

An 18v Hitachi charger & a 3ah li-ion battery. I knew the battery was ok as I had brought along my drill to test it but the charger was dead so I got both for £4!

At home I opened up the charger & found a lot of water inside, looked like it had been in a flood. Dried everything out, checked the fuses (ok) & plugged it in, not expecting anything. Amazingly it was alive & is charging batteries perfectly.

Also bought these at the same auction.

Eclipse 10" g clamp, not cheap at £20 but very strong & heavy!

Sheet of 1.2mm s/s £6 and a workmate £2, just needs a new top making. This one might get a steel top for welding on.
