The hammer.
A shock, the head is well fixed and secured.
The head was given a good clean with a wire cup brush. The head was clearly cast in a sand mould. No markings but a hint of a stamped set of initials.
A bit or research is hinting that it is from the Corsham stone quarries. I am waiting to see if I get a reply from an e mail sent to the local historian, who is an expert on them.
The soldering iron cleaned up very well. The wooden handle just needing a clean with mild soapy water and a rub down to get that shine you see. The brass feral was loose, but I did find the remains of copper rivets. So I made some, twisted the feral round 90Deg.
The copper tip cleaned up very well, took some heat and was re-tinned. Again no dates or names. But I am hoping to see the gentleman again, as he as a lot more.
Old hat now, strip down, de-rust. wire brush the steel. Polish the brass and away we go.
But the handle is not original, you can see a repair on the fixings. But it is identical to the handle on the soldering iron. Just cut down to fit.
I have emailed the MIS member who sold this bundle to me to see what else they have. I hope to find out more history of them.

These are hellerman pliers. A hellerman sleeve is a short rubber sleeve used to insulate and strengthen soldered wire joints or uninsulated crimps. Very popular in the MOD before heat shrink sleeving became the norm.
Basically, you dip the jaws in hellerman oil, and then slide your sleeve on. Squeeze the handles to expand the jaws and open the sleeve, pop your cable or cables in, and release the handles.
The oil has an addative that makes it go slightly sticky after a while to stop the sleeve sliding off.

I still use them occasionally, the sleeves are more flexible than heat shrink.

Bought a bunch of refillable brush pens. I want to try and put my own layout fluid in them, see if it works out. The widest one looks like the best candidate. Could be a very handy applicator, might also work with the commercial stuff. Need to find out if the pens survive the solvents. I am trying to think outside the box...

they are for stretching insulating rubber sheaths to put over uninsulated crimp connectors, its what was used before the ones you get now with moulded plastic fitted already. by this I mean the electrical eye let connectors. that will teach me to post without reading all the rest first....

We used to use them when glanding multipair cables for tidying up where you strip back the insulation and you have the inner foil wrapper and the screen or drain wire. You'd strip it back then slide over a length of earth sleeve then use the pliers to finish off.

Two huge red sanding wheel offcuts, look to be 40”dia, the uni one is around half that so they must’ve bought the wrong size and cut out the smaller circle - such a waste! It’s real nice 60grit stuff made in Italy.

I took these old bars out of my garage lintel yesterday, I was thinking of using them for something, But as with many of my ideas they get pushed back so they are now in the free section if anyone has a use..more info here

Nice haul today.
Wouldn't belive the amount of machinery kicking around. Spotted at least 7 Lathes numerous lathe parts. Tool grinders chucks galore mills in bits.
Planning another visit in a few months for a good poke around.
Dp and bore are an exact match. Just require a smaller keyway cutting.
The back gear and spindle are also the same dp so may be utilised
Very tidy rotary table. Looks unused but in need of a quick wipe over.
