After nearly wrecking it, I realised it should have been loose by now, so turned it the other way.
Only trouble now, is my search for a 16mm bit was fruitless, so either out with the round file tomorrow, or get a stepped drill.

Today I acquired a very unusual dial indicator . Never seen one like it but the movement is very very precise indeed.

It's off a comparator and missing it's face I think.

You zero it against a known standard/reference (Say, a gauge block) and can quickly test how much hundreds of parts deviate from it. I've seen one that looked more like a micrometer with the indicator replacing the stationary anvil which looked a bit more useful (And was made by Zeiss so skookum as frig).

I have a miyoto the same sort of thing.
Push the lever to lift the needle so you can slide it over the part one handed.

I got two of them from a skip, huge 15 drawer ones which can take a full ream of A4 and still more each drawer. For the workshop. My mum saw them and said they’d be great for her schoolwork (she’s a teacher). So I can’t really argue with that since I’m living at home! I’m still looking for filing drawers lol.

Two leg whatsit's that I intend to make into patio side tables, thought they were cheapo junk until I picked one up and what a weight it was.

Then found three bound sets of Classic Bike mag from 1980, six years worth in mint condition, will enjoy a blast down memory lane on a wet day.

Yes they have certainly done the job, mags are nearly 40 years old and just as they came from the shop.

Dropped in at the boot fair on the way home from work. People were packing up so I did a very quick tour of any likely-looking stalls and found these for a pound. The file is unknown make but un-used. The real bargain was the knipex side cutters.
