Today I acquired...........

Went to local auction this morning, was interested in a few lots that were consecutive (so same seller), whoever had brought them in had added "(retired engineer)" to one of the lots.
It was this lot, a bucket of marking out equipment.

Emptied most of it over the bench:

Most of it, including most of the sprung calipers is Moore and Wright stuff, rest is clearly his apprentice-made stuff and a few other things he must have picked up along the way.
3 M&W surface gauges after a little light cleaning (wiping down in WD40):

Yeah I can let that go to you, already have a centre finder, and some we have at work so no need for it there either, no idea what it's worth though, will have to find out but I'd offer you it well below that anyway. I'm not a trader/dealer or whatever but I do sell things on when the opportunity arises (the surface gauges for example, the larger ones are maybe £60 ea if going by an eBay post and since we have two at work, I'd be parting with one of them since I don't want/need two the same size)

Old Hitachi skill saw for a fiver. Will test later after replacing cable.
Jet clamps look pretty unused and work well.
Hacksaw. Been on the lookout for one for some time.
Some hex and torq bits
And a selection of old nuts and bolts.
Always get me out of trouble.

Ok I may have tested the skilly as is. 1800w beast. Spins silky smooth.
Bargain of the year. Will retire my crappy makita for backup.
Rarely use it these days. Tracksaw for the most.

my father has one of them saws in the garage some ware but it has a bow saw blade in it
think i might have to have a look for it to see if its the same

Plumbed it in.
Plugged it in.
It went *bang*

Opened up the back.
There's a big capacitor (? - marked in pfarads) which has burst.

Looked online for a replacement.
NLS.
but...
There's a recall notice.
So I phoned the helpline.
Notice was for control module which is also NLS.

Long story short:
Engineer coming Thursday, and potentially I get a brand new free dishwasher.
