Picked these up to give me something to do today.. The record autovice looks ok and the other is just called a record 47 but looks pretty much the same..

The record auto vice is nice, it’s cast steel and the little holes on the side are for holding valve stems. It should have a little removable anvil on the top. I have the same but the base is missing

The pipe jaws and anvil bit were missing but i have another autovice so i can make a cope of the jaws, I have not seen the anvil bit bit i pressume it goes into the hole on the top.

Oh, if anyone can make use of the old Wylex NHRS204/63 consumer unit let me know and you can have it for postage and a pint - has a Wylex 63A/30mA WRS63/2 RCD installed.

Do you need to use a specific plug for the socket to lock it in??

Yup - the 16A one. The 32A he'd fitted is physically larger, much larger diameter! He was a bit embarrassed when I emailed to let him know that he can swing by and pick up the 32A he'd fitted!

What I mean is will it lock any 16A plug in or do they need to be the same make as the socket?

I've got a similar one in 32a any plug works you can't switch them on without a plug in and you can't remove the plug whilst its switched on

I beg to differ - I have met several people who have managed to un-plug interlocked switches whilst turned on. Invariably the switches never work again but it definitely can be done given the required muscle/brain cell ratio.

Aah, sorry - gotcha now! (Slaps ample forehead...)

It would seem that plugs from different manufacturers are compatible; the socket is Palazzoli and the plug from Screwfix is ABB - there'll be a BS or European standard.

I put one of those ABB plugs on my Oerlikon. They seem to be really good quality.

Unlike the sh!te one I got from CEF before that. The blue bit was oval and hardly fitted the socket! I know what I'll be buying from now on!

A little update on the machine vice I got a bit ago, progress is coming along nicely. Lots of JB Weld going on to repair the Luftwaffe damage

Underneath I fitted a 5/16 grub screw and a washer (as well as the thackery washer already there), it's now nice and tight and the slop has disappeared

My Record 610 bolt cutters arrived - they're babies next to the already small 918s!

These lovely pliers came. The jewel of the bunch is the Crescent long nose. Some are a mystery, help required on the two pointing northeast

Also anyone know the name of these? Looks like it begins with a C or a G, ending in RIAN or RAN

Someone has ground the ends to make them circlip pliers. Must have been a lot of grinding...
