i ts an aborga copy strand s68
ripped it apart to check it out bent spindle on motor and drive output obviously been dropped on its side and sheared g box mounting screws not been run so gears are in good nick thankfully. il straghten the shafts and replace spindle bearings
the small rack elevating gear is toast too but il build up the damaged tooth with the tig
will put a plug on the lathe next and adjust the clutches nephew gave it the once over and reckons its all good nick hes a machinist time served toolmaker
When my Arboga arrived it had fallen off the pallet (had paid for it lying down on two but they sent standing on one) and the motor shaft was bent, table snapped off and a few lever snapped. I got a full refund and was told to scrap it myself. I initially thought of a way of fitting an external motor in place of the built in one but decided to try and straighten the shaft first. Took it out of the head and mounted in the lathe and rotated slowly whilst bringing the toolpost up against it, had a piece of brass mounted on the toolpost. It straightened up surprisingly easily and it has been going strong for 10 or more years now
Fixed the table by making a spigot and bolting it to the base instead of the snapped cast spigot and have repaired a few of the levers but others I have not got round to yet.
Beautiful machines, much much better than they look and in my opinion the best there is.
