The problem is with the 4/4, Mrs TYA has quite rightly understood that when you have put 4 forths of the volume in something it is full, years of cake making probably re-inforced this with her, and maybe having to clean the oven as well! Her appreciation of the fact that once you have four forths of something in something you can't get any more in, (I know I didn't have to put the bit about four forths again, but felt it was best to keep on Mrs TYAs' side ) has caused her to give you "That Look"

Since you didn't do any of this can you please post the video recording of it on the mig-welding forum for our entertainment education so we aren't tempted to not do it ourselves.

Of course if you didn't record it the first time you're only running the risk of some of us untrained idiots trying to replicate such a dangerous feat, so in the best interests of H&S it would be better if you could just post a video showing just how dangerous it is so none of us are tempted to try it at home.

It was fun lighting the gas taps

This was our physics masters party trick.

For each and every first year O level group, he would light a gas tap at the front of the class and then ask the wide eyed gathering why the (roaring) flame didn't travel back down the pipe and blow up the local gas works.

I think 12 minutes was the record before he got a satisfactory answer.......

Yes, at last a parcel arrived.

A lot of duct tape, many layers, but well protected.

This is what was in the package.



3 old Back saws.
In a state, but first look shows that 2 could be saved, the third will need some work on the teeth.
Time will tell.
If not I have a Up-cycling idea.

Back on the 13th Oct See Post No. 11442. I acquired a Marples Mitre clamp.

On the surface it didn't look to bad.



It wasn't to bad.
A good clean and a paint strip in Hot caustic solution to remove the bad paint job.

It showed that one of the C/sunk mounting hole had bean filled in with filler, no reason why as far as I could see. Unless it was to take a M6 C/sunk screw. But why just do one.

So I asked a friend to TIG it full and machine a new C/sunk hole.




Here it is all done.

Is that a straightforward mitre clamp, or is it some sort of mitre cutting guide? Looks like it has some sort of adjustable stops to set the max depth of cut.

It does have adjustable depth stops, they raise up and use screws to lock them in place.

The current plan is to use of the saws from @slim_boy_fat sent me as the saw to use.

This 8.5 inch Taylor chuck for my empire. In excellent condition. Happy days.

A bum fodder holder for the downstairs bog that has a shelf. Perfect for placing your brew. Posher people probably use it for moist wipes or potpourri, I may use it for a G+T or a pint of home-brew if I'm feeling decadent Its made from 304 stainless so should be able to withstand corrosive gases a little.

Thanks what the quality like?

The quality looks decent enough, I got to use them tonight for some light machining & they were producing some nice curls & leaving a decent finish.

Check out Doubleboosts review on youtube, that's what convinced me to buy these. At one stage he takes a massive cut, 6mm I think & the tooling handled it no problem!
