Had a root around in my box of computer junk and found a USB to IDE enclosure, now to find a copy of the BartPE ISO I made many years ago and clone the drive

Clonezilla would be another good choice for that job.
I think I have BartPE somewhere if you can’t find yours...

A slightly better understanding of stepper motors. Making a positioning table for my soon to be delivered laser welder. Seeing I have no training in electronics,I think I have done pretty well to convert analogue signals into the witchcraft stepper motors use. No magicsmoke lost yet either,which is quite remarkable,hahaha.

Now that I know it works , I can move onto the cnc side of it. Then, once that’s done, a proper wire up in a suitable enclosure

What control software are you using?

Look forward to seeing the laser in action. What kind of thickness will it do and what are you planning to use it for?

I’ve got a Planet cnc controller that was bought a couple of years back but never used. That will accept G code. I have a couple of World war 2 parts that have been on the wrong side of a sharp projectile. Gearbox housing with a spider web of cracks. Have had good results getting these casings laser welded in the past, so decided to bite the bullet and get my own set up. Also have a couple of other restoration projects where it “ might” work. Need to have a play.

Almost bought a planet controller a while back but, well I didn't. It is amazing how many different ones are coming out nowadays, most tied to their own hardware which may be a good thing in the respect that they can tailor things more precisely but bad in that you are tied to the hardware.

I bought it on the strength that I was going to use it on a lathe, and it was one of the few controllers that “could” cut decent threads. They then upgraded to tng software and spindle encoding was still being developed. So never used it, but will be perfect for this application

Aye, not much out there for lathes sadly, have heard that UCCNC is one but never tried it as I don't have any of their controllers.

I certainly did but it was a good deal the parts washer was only£30+vat the batteries were £50+vat each and the grinder was £115+vat but that's what happens when you start looking for new tools in the caravan when it's to dark to do anything else

Friday I acquired a good understanding of my local A&E, twice.
I know, right. Greedy.

Today I acquired the following.
Knee brace, in black.
Ankle brace in white elasticated bandages and plastic.
5 prescriptions.


All for stress tears of ligaments in knee and radial hairline fractures of heel and to get the hat trick,
Sprained ankle.

Plus an injection to help solve the pain issues.
It did not go in the arm.
Nor the leg.
Or the Gluteus Maximus.
Due to fun with my nerves it is a slow release injection into neck.
