Did a quick vid showing these taps at work:

For tapping aluminium, try "Lacquer Thinner ", I found it can give you perfect razor sharp threads all the way down to 2-56 size threads. Using lacquer thinner was a tip I received from a machinist when I was doing a construction job at Lockheed Aircraft.

Kamasa 3/8 and 1/4 Socket Set. Imperial, metric and BA. It looks by a count that 6 sockets are missing, but at £5:00 worth it I think. I don't need any more sockets. But why let that get in the way.

I was wrong.



I have sorted the socket set out. There are 4 sockets missing, all BA.
There has been some replacements in the set over the years, but will good ones.
I need to rummage or hunt down some BA 1/4 sockets.

I helped out with some advice for a mate I known since I’ve been knee high to a grasshopper. He wanted extraction in his workshop. I acted as a technical go between to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Maybe about 6 hrs of phone time in a few months and some emails.

I helped him save nearly £40k.

He wanted to pay me. That wasn’t part of the deal, so today this was waiting for me when I got back

At least 3m3 of gum, and a bundle of pine sawmill offcuts to be split for kindling. Seems ridiculous breaking and stacking all this wood as it’s sweltering at the moment but I’ll be thankful in four months time

While searching for a flypress on the "bay", I noticed a seller currently also has a 100 drawer industrial cabinet for sale. If I had room for it inside, I would have bought the cabinet it in a heartbeat. I'd estimate the metal drawers to be about 5" wide by 24" long.

My dad has the 50 drawer version of that cabinet. They are brilliant things but after shifting it into place I'd be after a forklift for the bigger one! It'll be just a wee bit heavy

Depends. We’re very different from Australia in temperature. Parts of Southland are like Scotland and do get very cold and snowy. Alexandra, just a little further north in Central Otago has consistently high summer temps (sometimes the hottest) but also gets snow in winter - a little oddity of NZ. We don’t get snow where I live (lower north island) but I can see it on the mountains in winter. Some never lose their snow like Mt Taranaki. Up Auckland way (top of the country) you have almost a mild tropical climate which intensified into Northland. Being long and thin there’s so many climates across this land.

Here’s a pic of Mt Taranaki (mid north island) from about a month ago. It was a beautiful and hot summers day. The mountain doubled for Mt Fuji in a recent ish film about the Samurai.

Wow, that flashed back a memory from many many moons ago in the early 1980's during my Enduro racing days out in the Mojave desert. My bike was a Honda XR200R, kind of sluggish in the sand, but like a bulldozer hill climbing; a good compromise for the terrain encountered. Ahhh, to be young again.
