Thats no good to us fella...we need names, types or picsToday, I acquired...
A running bike.
After discovering the battery was end-of-life and jumping from a car battery on the floor...
Fuel on, prime, key, crank, burst into life first turn.
Then I shut it off quick because the carb was flooding.
But for two glorious seconds it sounded lovely with the collector pipe only. A nice crisp bark denoting lovely even compressions and valves working properly.
Far too noisy for street use, and would do my head in anyway, so I'll adapt the Hardley silencer.
Tomorrow or Friday, strip the carb and see what the problem is. Daft thing is, I had the carb in my hands just yesterday and gave it a quick once-over, but since it had given no trouble previously, I mistakenly assumed it would be ok.
Never assume nuttin'.

I like collecting but no issue getting rid of junk I don't need.
Problem I have is wood.
Sling it in the shed or lockup in the hopes I might use it.

you know your going to need some of that wood in a day or 2 once its in the skip and wet or once it gone
Na. I'm a chippie.you know your going to need some of that wood in a day or 2 once its in the skip and wet or once it gone
All done with little trauma, but at this point the fact that the header tanks ballcock has been a bit lazy for a while and my inability to find a radiator key has lead to the header overflowing and a bedroom ceiling and carpet getting soaked...Pipe. I am in the process of removing the microbore and doing it properly. If they wanted to fit bendy pipe and cover it in trunking, they should have been electricians..
I obviously haven’t had enough coffee yet. I couldn’t work out what a “running bike” was. Possibly some exotic exercise thingy?
And if so, why did it need a carb?
A Suzuki GS850 which had been out of action for over a year, awaiting the circular tuits. I started stripping the top end off the engine nearly a year ago and what should have been a simple day-long job took months, as I discovered various small obstacles that had to be addressed properly, as and when finances and time allowed.
The carb is a single SU that I fitted more than 20 years ago when I discovered the rebuild cost of rejuvenating the original bank of 4.
Ooo, how did it go with the single constant vacuum carb on it?A Suzuki GS850 which had been out of action for over a year, awaiting the circular tuits. Has G.C.R stamped on the other side, so probably railway related.
A hole for the cat flap, it's only a concrete lintle though I wanted a Catnic one!

Ho ho goody goody says every stinking tom in the street and within a three mile radius
I gave up on cat flaps even though our moggy had an inductor collar then eventually an expensive chip that was supposed to only allow him access in or out .
We had a big rangy 38 kg short haired yellow lab , goldie cross gun dog at the time , I came home with him one day to a hell of a noise to find the whole cat flap ripped out . Neighbour said he saw half a dozen cats waiting for our Tom to come along the fence & approach the flap then all the others went in before him . They'd peed everywhere and shat in the corner by the washing machine .
I'd come home , opened the front door , told the dog to go in & sit , turned my back to get my shotgun and gear out the car . That's when he discovered cats in the house that weren't his & all hell let loose . Ken my neighbour witnessed three cats all trying at once to get out the cat flap before the dog got to them , it broke & the dogs head was stuck in the hole . It cost me £ 28 for a new replacement door panel without a cat flap ( fitted it myself )
Then almost 15 yrs later ( I'd recently married a cat lover ) at another home with a different cat & chip access cat flap system , I came home one day , tried to get in the back door, it opened an inch or so then it stuck the more I pushed the door the less it moved . Then I got a whiff of the kitchen , "Wahhhh ! " . that greasy infected anal gland stinking old tom cat , pee & crap smell hit me like a sledgehammer .
Had to go round to the front door & let myself in ( thank god for identical laser cut keyed high security locks . Went through the lounge into the kitchen to find my cat sat on a work top and next doors 17 yr old tom almost dead , jammed solid under the back door . I'd managed squeezed the contents out its guts & bladder out in along stream across the kitchens two month old carbonized bamboo floor & sunken coconut matting door mat as I tried to open the door with it trapped underneath . It had shat in several places in the kitchen too ...thank god we always kept the lounge door closed when we went to work . It took months of work to finally get rid of the stench .. a skunk smells sweeter I can vouch for that .
MY lass could only laugh between throwing up when she came home a few minutes after me .
We are now a cat free zone .
