Is that not a blower off a 2 stroke diesel rather than a compressor? It appears to have a mounting flange so it seems more likely.
why did they chick them sardine, looks to be damn all wrong with them.
a case of more money than sense was it.
yeah there could be that in it too and fair enough if that was the case.Could have been clearing the effects of someone who'd died, and they had no use for them?

Are the wheels not fixed to an axle so towing it drives the spreading mechanism?;The plastic hopper on the seed spreader was busted. No businesses repair anything anymore, its not economical, it all goes in the skip.
No bearings on those wheels though, I'm dissapointed .
The top one is a chain splitter, used for knocking a link or two out when you need to shorten a chain.Although I have acquired my dad's tools over the last few weeks, its the first time I've had chance to sort through them, I got about 2 hours this afternoon. Here's a few things that caught my eye.
I'm not sure if this some kind of flaring tool, chain link tool or small riveting tool or similar.

The top handle screws the pin down towards whatever it does, it has "M.C.E. Made In England" just below the spring.
The handle on the right operates the clamp that holds whatever the pin works on

The next pic looks like lathe cutters but mounted on a screw thread, probably screws into a holder, I bet this is dead obvious but as I've never worked in a tool shop I'm curious to know what they are.

These screw in centres look interesting too

Here's something more obvious, this is a lacing awl, not sure what trade, could be leather, or sail making I guess.

I got some tool steel too, here's a sample, there's tungsten, cobalt and one call "Double Super Hydra" which google says is made by Osborne Steels and is used for broaches, reamers and lathe tools and is 0.8% C, 5% Co, 4.5% Cr, 1.75% Va, 18% W

A nice miniature Verdict Junior DTI, I think they are handed, so this one you push on the left of the ball.

I now have sufficient tools to have almost a full set of hand tools up in the workshop and down in the barn, here's just some of the screwdrivers, some are horrible cheap tat with those brittle plastic handles and soft blades so need sorting but some good stuff too.

Its going to take me weeks to sort out the tools, I think I will sort it out into workshop, barn and lending tools plus he has a load of big old spanners and one off tools that I will find a draw or too for.
Cheers
Andy

Still got mine.We all had them back in the day. Probably because our chains were so worn out and stretched! Also, Chain was sold by length, unlike now where (sensibly) bikes use endless chains with no joining link.
I carry a simpler version on the bike, along with a split link, mended a few chains in the past, take a link out & rejoin it. It gets you or whoever home.Still got mine.
