There’s a couple of broken bolts, so obviously it’s cheaper and easier to skip it.
Trouble is bud if the company skipping that one are anything like mine they won't allow repairs to ladders as they seem to think we're incompetent to do that sort of thing, so any faults and they're binned

This beauty came home with me last year after I was weekended out in the truck at a truck stop near Symonds Yat in the shire of Monmouth. Made by Grumman, makers of the iconic WW2 fighter planes that sent most of the Imperial Japanese Navy to Davy Jones’ Locker, and the awesome seaplane in “The Expendables” films, it was love at first sight for me. Had a walk along the River Wye on the Saturday, did a boat trip, watched the canoeists, had dinner and a couple of pints at one of the riverside hostelries, then saw this for sale, and BANG! Fell in love with the aeronautical engineering design, did the deal, and home it came, roped onto the back of a 150 ton low loader
.Haven’t managed to use it yet, now bordering on desperate to get it wet
. Recently got into woodworking in a big way, (apologies to the aficionados of steel
), and had a go at making a paddle out of an old scaffold board. Went old school and just used a pencil, a saw and a drawknife, all by hand no power tools, and even though pine boards are truly awful being full of knots and splits, I was quite pleased with the end result. I’d never contemplate using it due to there being a big knot just below the “pommel’, which would undoubtedly split if I ever had to put the power on, but it just shows what can be achieved with not much more than some effort. Here it is at the side of one of my “proper” paddles:

In fact I have two now lol.
Great bits of kit
Take the time to set the cams on the base well to stop wiggle then with a low speed shallow cut trim the splinter strips off into a sacrificial timber.
Most useful for cutting out sinks and jobs too. Far safer than plunging a skilly.
