Yes, it is.

A bit pricey for some stuff, but it’s clean and well kept. On another plus note, it doesn’t stink of pee, which is sadly the norm in services. I mean who wants to walk 400yards to the loo and back again?

Winchboy here, Winchmans son. One of the bigger things I've bought from eBay (had to get one up on Winchman for biggest thing bought on ebay) and can't wait to go camping with it, alongside the 3L mercedes engine inside it (rivet counters look away). Any advice would be appreciated as well as spares etc hoping to do a mild restoration of it , knock dents out, re-paint, tart up some of the rougher repairs on the body work where its been plated. Just paid for not yet collected however as its 300 miles away on the south coast, just getting my ear defenders and warm coat ready for it. Luckily we've got an AA membership and it should do 30mpg.

looks straight enough, if its on the original box id bin the merc engine as youll be left with a handy container to hold the remains of the gears in. if it hasnt already got them, put some 3.54 diffs out of a 200tdi d1/rangerover classic, itll give it more legs. check the chassis for rot, and do a good job of sorting it if there is any.

i wouldnt bother chasing dents out etc, an old truck like that always looks better with a few battle scars than a freshly painted truck, and in any case they never came out of the factory that straight.

id get a 2 or 300 tdi dropped in it, cheap, decent economy and incredibly reliable, and you can get parts whereever you are

Thanks, currently running with series 3 diffs, the gearbox is a bit noisy like most series 2a boxes, fingers crossed I will get a good few thousand miles out of it before any real trouble, if it all goes to pot I'll just buy another 2a box and fit that. The Mercedes OM617 engine is really quite good especially compared to the original, very very reliable and known to do 500,000 miles before needing a rebuild. probably not as good as a 200tdi but I'm on an apprentice budget can't really afford to dump a 300tdi into it. Just looking for (nearly) new tyres and hoops for the canvas top, or at least a set i can use as a pattern and make my own, electrical conduit springs to mind.

youll pick up a rotten disco for 500 quid for the lump in it. that merc engine will chew boxes apart unless you drive like miss daisy. even a tdi is a bit much for a series box unless youre sympathetic tbh. @8ob might have an engine lying around if you talk nicely to him. whatever you budget for with a landy, double it. my 110 is kicking my arris at the mo, not helped by next to no work available and therefore no money!

Today I acquired knowledge of an unknown tool. I was in Lidl looking in the merchandise isle when I noticed what at first glance was a pop rivet kit, but it had wall anchors in the box, and upon closer inspection I saw there was a tool in the kit. In the 40+ years I've been involved with construction I have never seen a tool for installing and expanding this type of wall anchor. As I have boxes and boxes of these anchors I bought the kit just for the tool.


I also acquired a lot of stress today, as I received a computer notice from YODEL that my parcel from overseas has been delivered, and delivered "to my safe place". We were home at the time it was supposed to have been delivered, so they DIDN'T deliver it to my address. Yodel was closed by the time I got the message, so I went to every street in the area which had my house number and got lucky; they delivered it to the wrong street.

Anyway, the Columbian Gyro Vise is now safely at home.

Popped into the local Hospice charity shop thinking "I'll just get a couple of books", walked out with a 12" Starrett combination square with all the bits but no box and 5 Moore and Wright dividers/calipers and a centre punch that looks brand new, oh almost forgot , a book

I've never seen one of these tools before Keith, but I did bring loads of hardware and fittings when I sent a Seatrain container over here a couple of years ago. Yeah, these anchors were sometimes a pain to install and would spin out occasionally if you were not careful installing with a screwdriver and lubricate the screw with anti-seize compound. As eLuSiVeMiTe said, they were a pain in the a**, but not any more.

I have had a few of the generic 'blue ones' which like cheep filler guns last until the sliding rod gets chewed by the locking plates.

But I find the ergonomics of the gun shaped cheep ones easier to use.
Main thing is to use decent fixings Fischer or the B&Q own brand ones if needed in a hurry. Some like the CPC own brand ones were very poor but I see they now do the Fischers.

I will explain, I lent a good friend a trailer to help him move from one house to his new one.
It was mainly used to take stuff to the recycling centre.
He also knows if he paid with money it could be embarrassing. He went to a tool shop I know. @slim_boy_fat, yes that one.

I also was at the same shop, I sold some tools and other stuff.

Today I acquired.....a pocketful of cash. A very nice chap came from Inverness [40 miles] to buy the Record pillar drill I had for sale - paid in cash with no haggling, loaded it into the boot of his car and went away a happy man [but not as happy as me ].

Even complimented me on the condition of my grass.
