Mate had a clear out and i got 2 half rolls of builders membrane so i did my shed floor ready to build the wooden beams and add some insulation.

I acquired, a nice laptop...
Or rather, a new motherboard for my nice laptop. I got it in February with a years "Premium onsite service".
Friday night I was programming an Arduino and a stepper motor, it must have squirted some back EMF down the USB and into the laptop. Screen went black and an LED displayed a "CPU failure" fault code. A bit of poo came out.
Booked a repair with Dell, Monday they booked an engineer, today he came out and replaced the motherboard, no questions asked, no money spent, no data lost.
I think I'll be extending that warranty, not sure what it will cost but a motherboard with an i7 and a 1050ti soldered to it will be more.
Oh, and I'll be unplugging the USB before running the stepper next time.

The high sleeper bed we had for our kids was brill , even I could sit up right in the under bed area at his computer desk with ease , my son was able to sit upright in his bed ..all six foot two of him & still had space above his head for a small shelf & bed light .a raspberry pi is only about 4in square - how big a desk would it need?
The high sleeper we had for my daughter was a high captains cabin bed with another bed under hers , ( so she could have girly sleep overs ).
They were one of the best purchases we've made , as at the time we lived in a pokey three bed place where the kids rooms were 9 x 9 foot square .

To day I acquired satisfaction regarding the hit and run damage to my parked van. The person caught on my neighbours cameras told the police he would stop by to see us and make amends. Fair enough, he followed me to an auto body shop I trust for a price to do the repairs, and this afternoon came by, paid us the cash amount quoted and gave my Wife a bottle of wine for our inconvenience.
Years ago I would have caused the person as much grief as possible, but now at my age I just want things sorted in the easiest way possible; and without emotion. The guy apologised profusely, and after seeing the indisputable video evidence was more than happy to accept responsibility.

Be aware that the insurers might kick up stink if they find out because you have not declared the incident nor the repair ...............….usually you have to for all insurable incidents for it affects their levels of risks.
Ie
Did you park or normally park in a place that is considered a high risk place such as on a bend in the road etc.
They frown upon private settlements and look up on such things aa deliberate fraud by both parties , for boot being on the other foot they might be unknowingly insuring a serial hit & run drugged up / drunk , unsafe to drive nutter who has a lot of money .

The van was legally parked in front of our house on a straight section of road. My insurance agent was notified and had no issues with it being handled amicably as it was minor (but very noticeable) bumper damage from the other vehicle pulling out and misjudging clearance. The driver was an older man with a clean cut appearance and didn't look, speak, or act like a nutter, druggie, or serial offender, but what do I know; I just go with my gut instinct and today it served me well, with all going smoothly to my satisfaction. Life goes on.
