Today I acquired...........

After 2 years I had to replace a Makita Nemesis SDS+ bit
So i bought two of them both 8mm
One identical to the one I have destroyed and one longer
I can say that I would like to highly recommend Makita Nemesis
That's because after a week I owned those bits I drilled through an H beam buried in the concrete and the bit survived this abuse
After that it's being practically used to drill whatever material less than concrete .
Hardened steel
Gres
Ceramic
Rock
Not exactly designed for that but those Makita bits worked exceptionally until the last week when the 8mm bit failed aptemting to drill a gres tile
But for the price I paid... Only 4 euros it done more than what I could expect
Very satisfied with those drill bit so I bought the same exact ones

Drilling porcelain with a masonary bit is a loosing battle. Can literally see the bit melting away .

Took a punt on a cheap and cheerful Chinese wind deflector, as the screen is just a couple of inches too short.

It's not bad for quality, far exceeding what I expected for the price. Time will tell how well it holds up to being banged about by the wind, though.

I have not checked it yet but it seems to be reasonably unharmed but I will only know for sure when I clock it.

If it is warped then I will likely adapt it to make an adjustable angle plate for a small vice.

Picked up a Evolution belt sander file thingy and a few spare belts and it seems pretty good and i desperately needed it as i had and empty shelf space i had made, Also a few lego advent calenders turned up ready for all the little and not so little people in my family and friends network.

I like the gauge for the air forks, it's a bit steam punk!

That's an on-going thing to see if I can live with them.
They're actually a pain in the arris, so come the new year I'll be putting a set of straight-rate springs in.
Pity really, I like the ride of the air forks, but getting them airtight is impossible, and probably why they weren't offered on European GS850s and dropped on all the other models soon after.
Unlike the rear Showa air shocks which don't lose a single psi month to month.

Frustration.

Workshop lights have been iffy for a few weeks now. But I had reasons to put it off.

This morning, only 1 tube out of 4 was working, plus none of my good spares worked.

So I got 3 x 5ft double LED batons and fitted them today.

The old lights came down, I had time and coffee.
Starting with the one good light, tube and starter I worked my way through the lot.

Up shot.

2 dead starters, 1 dead tube and now fully working old lights on the bench and no spares.

But having been sat in a field overlooking Darwen since 8 o'clock this morning waiting for a lift supervisor so I can drop the left hand of these 2:




...it might not last that long . I'm the only slinger onsite but I'm not a climber, and all the riggers are climbers but not slingers, so we seem to be at an impasse... Yet another night parked on the moors surrounded by sheep seems likely .

2. Try to find a pea pie, a guy I used to work with from Darwen used to go on about these pea pies they had there, mushy peas in a pie

I would quite honestly soil myself climbing 15 metres up to sling this mast, so I'm not kidding when I say that my stomach was in knots watching Fred step out over that top overhang .

Those lights were dying for weeks before they were changed. But I had other things to plan.

So I fitted 2 x 5ft twin LED battons. 1 x Singel 5ft Batton , all from Screwfix, they are about £30.
