...it might not last that long. I'm the only slinger onsite but I'm not a climber, and all the riggers are climbers but not slingers, so we seem to be at an impasse... Yet another night parked on the moors surrounded by sheep seems likely

I am not sure it would solve your problem even if it worked.They came with bypass starters, so work fine in older non-electronic fittings.
One has been used, but not where it'll solve my flickering light above the lathe problem
This weekend I replaced a faulty fluorescent tube with a led baton, I can now see the condition of the milling tool carbide tips whilst they are spinning which is good but not good.
I expect I will get used to it but ATM it is a bit off putting, perhaps a replacement flo would have been a better option.

My two 5ft LED battens cost £40 each, easy to connect [although those 'spring clamp' type aren't very good] and immediate improvement in performance. No flickering and you have light as soon as you turn on the power. I'm very impressed. 
I might fit the old 5ft fluorescent light above the bench on the separate switch which currently powers a couple of [useless] under-cupboard tube lights - for the occasions when the ambient light/daylight is altogether better and I only need light directly on the job with my shadow not in the way. Yet to be decided....

@Parm and @eLuSiVeMiTe the plan as soon as a i spotted the 3 meter lengths was to remove a few of the rollers in the middle and drop a chop saw in it and at the moment i only own a few of them but if the guy wants to leave them with me for an extended period they may come up for grabs.

I'd only want two lots of 4 rollers lopped off tbh.
Would mount them on top of these.
Then can use for chop saw table saw thicknesser etc as height adjustable.
I'm always on site so makes sense for me.

I will be going to collect other stuff on Monday and i am sure he had other sections which had been bent up so maybe i can cut the bottom section just to save the rollers.

Thursday last a lovely little Box/Pan folder. Bloody heavy thing though, two of us to waddle with it! Unlike the online offerings of modern construction, this thing bends 2.5mm as if it isn't there! As with everything I get it is getting the full treatment, complete strip down, blast paint and oil. There is nothing broken on it apart from the two operating handles which should be three foot long so I will socket them and put some drilled and tapped holes for retaining screws.

1 x 1944 Paraffin Blow torch. UK made in 1944.
1 x 1lb copper bit soldering iron to suit above torch.
1959, pocket watch volt meter and new leads.
Old mix, but going to a friend who's family hail from Romania, but live between there and Israel. The above items her uncle has fond memories of his time in England after WW2.

Finally got my drill doctor setup....it's a crazy world when it's cheaper to buy and ship something from the USA than buy it here in the UK!!!....why on earth is that?
This one has a USA plug so I had to get a separate transformer but even factoring in the transformer it was still £50 cheaper!
I seem to be buying more and more stuff from USA amazon....even with import VAT and postage it's a big enough saving to disregard the warranty issues.
Not all US vendors ship to the UK but quite a few of them do I find.

What transformer did you get ?
I've been looking for one that converts the 240 volt 50hz UK supply to 110 volt 60hz.
