I once went to see a speedboat on a monday told the guy I would pick it up on the Thursday and pay the full amount . left him with £1oo deposit . went for it on the thurs and it had gone I said to guy come for the boat and he said he had sold it and gave me the hundred quid back was gutted I said to him you miserable t... t shook my head and left . cant work people out ive sold stuff and kept it when someone said they can be round in a few hours and would definitely have it. I took there tel number and name and said I wouldn't sell it to anyone else for that said time

I have a bit of a reputation that I am quite proud of in my game, if I say I will take it, it's done. That was the deal. This has circulated very slowly among the people who matter to me.
Quite recently I was told a story, I had done a deal with someone to buy something, he sold it to someone else. Fair enough, I keep my own counsel.
So, the story, couple of these guys found out about it so told the guy who had reneged on the deal to try to buy XYZ from me. When he rang I just told him bluntly that it had sold. See, told you he won't deal with you they told him. The guy is now desperate to buy something from me, it is not happening. Sometimes these people discover they may just have made the wrong decision. :-)

Acquired a hydraulic powered tirfor winch. One owner with cable,hydraulic power pack etc. Not the greatest photos as it’s still in the van as it’s persisting it down
And a newfound respect for the ****roen Berlingo. Might be a rubbish van to drive,but it easily out swam a Ford Transit and a Landy that died at the same bridge

Bought a Clarke Bandsaw on eBay for not a lot of money and was due to collect it today. I got a message from the seller saying they plugged it in and couldn’t get it to work so I could still have it for free if I wanted. So went round today to collect it and was greeted by an old lady who after talking to her for a bit figured out that she was selling up because her husband had died. I couldn’t walk away without giving her something so gave her a little bit of cash I had on me.

Upon getting it home, I noticed the belt guard switch wasn’t secure so that’s my first guess but I haven’t had chance to plug it in yet to confirm my suspicion.
Came with the flimsy stand too but took it off to get it in the car.

I also bought an erbauer auto-retract 1/4” air hose reel from Screwfix as it was the same price the similar offerings available on eBay. Upon getting it home, I saw those hose and thought it looked a bit thick for 1/4”, checke it and the labels on it and it’s a 3/8” hose reel.

And a modicum of discomfort in the lumbar region as a result of having to barrow all of it round from the drive .

Hopefully tomorrow will be dry and I can get the chop saw out to add to the store with this lot that's been drying in the mancave for the last few months:



Either way, it's a joy to have the log burner lit again .

Bought this a few weeks ago, absolutely brilliant light for working on cars, in the workshop and just generally. Worth far more to me than the measly £8 I paid (hence waiting to write about it in case of short life).
The strong magnet on the base holds the thing at any angle, the rotary switch adjusts to any brightness, it is seriously bright on full power and the batteries seem to last for ever. Most useful, best value thing I have bought in a long time.

Not the psu. The rotary encoder. Given the cost of these new I wouldnt have expected them to be plastic but they are. The crack allowed the encoder to spin on the motor shaft stopping it calibrating and zero hid input.
Some careful supergluing and its alive. $38 for a brass replacment from thailand. Proven to work so not the end of the world. No way I could machine it myself. View attachment 127584

Nearly 2 years since this arrived.

Got the urge to game again and as the plastic disk for the encoder was still in place though I should really change it.
These vibrate a lot in use due to ffb and the encoder is on the bottom of the motor

New gpu arrives tomorrow and il be introducing the eldest to borderlands
